Thanks for your comment on my resurrection of this old thread. It seems I spoke too soon in my previous post. Blocking the EGR has now completely solved the hesitation issue. I had previously bypassed the fuel filters to see if blockage in there might be causing the problem. I reconnected...

I went ahead and blocked the EGR pipe, with a thick blanked out gasket, just before it enters the air intake. it made a difference, but only about 65 - 70% of the hesitation was removed. I wonder what the remaining 30 - 35% is caused by.

Your description of your hesitation issue describes my current issue exactly. I have a 2003 1HZ Troopy from Aus with 200K on it. I am new to diesels, can you describe or show me a couple of pics of what you did to solve this? The issue was very subtle when driving in Aus, but now in Canada...

As the title says, I'm trying to nail down what countries around the world these Troopies were originally manufactured and originally sold. Anyone know of lists and sites identifying this? Also interested in the same info for 75 and 78 Troopies. Thanks.

You're right, I can. I'm just trying to learn more while finding the best bang for my buck, given that I have to pay nearly 20% of the value of the vehicle in import fees plus shipping it in a container.

Correct. It does identify 3 different roof applications within the 70 series, but it does not answer what I'd really like to know, which is: Has the HZJ78 been produced in anything other than a steel roof? If so, how would I identify the difference by reading a description?

OK, I found this list of various 70 series. It indicates "soft top" and "frp top", which are both removable. Where it indicates "hard top" the roofs are fixed (not removable). So, I think that explains that bit, but still I am not sure if all 70 series hard tops are metal or some are...

I often see "hardtop" used to describe certain Troopies, but I have never seen a description of what that means. I believe it means metal vs fiberglass, but not positive. There are no canvas covered 75s or 78s are there? What is the true difference and how do I determine which models have what?

I have been looking at Rotterdam. All the shipping companies I have tried to pry info out of have told me they have no agents shipping out of Bulgaria. I could take a month to cross 17 countries to make an adventure out of it.
