Awesome. Thank you.
Yes the compressor is definitely turning when it stops working. I can't remember the pressure but the guy said it was higher than it should be on the high side and lower than it should be on the low side. After he switch the car off it stayed pressurized which is why he...
Thanks Dave. Much appreciated. I did find it for the qty for the 80 series, but that wouldnt be any use other than a rough idea. Think it was 10ml for the dryer and 40ml for the condenser (which it says to be added back to the compressor) assume this can just be added back into the system via...
Unfortunately I'm based out in Kenya so I'm not sure there are any genuine experts. Thanks for the help though. I guess I could try and drain all the oil from the dryer and condenser and try to measure it and replace the same amount.
Hi All, I am having to swap out my AC expansion valve. In the process I am going to replace the dryer reciever and condenser. I'm not replacing the compressor or evaporator as they seem fine (and are expensive). I'm happy with the correct qty of R134 to put back in, what is not clear is if I...
I should have really followed this up ages ago. My CEL at low revs was not caused by the pump being too advanced or retarded. If was caused by a tiny break in the wire that connected to the timing correction resistor. For exactly the reasons that Davet points out this is why the CEL was being...
So essentially temperature senor assists the ECU to decide how much or little fuel to inject. When it can't do this the idle can be rough or it will hunt. Also, it may cause it to over fuel hence the black smoke. It may do this without throwing an error code. Mine didn't. To be fair, mine was...
Just thought I'd add to this incase anyone is mulling over an EGR delete. So I haven't deleted mine on my 1kz te. It has over 300,000km albeit rebuilt at 220,000. It does however have an oil catch can. I had to have my turbo rebuilt recently so I took the intercooler off to clean out the oil...
I had a similar issue. It turned out to be a broken wire to the water temperature sensor. Its the one behind the Injector pump near the firewall, not the water temperature sender at the front. Simple change of the connector and sensor and problem solved for me.
To be honest, im almost at the stage where i know i just need to advance the pump, i just want to satisfy my curiosity about what the timing resistor mod does and how it works!
Thanks Grimbo. Again, I think this explains what the Fuel Resistor does. My understanding is the screw on the SPV affects the fueling across the whole range of RPM whilst the resistor mod largely affects the lower revs. I believe this was for emission control. What it still doesn't explain is...
Cheers for the reply Shayne. Sorry for being simple. Would that not be the fuel resistor (beige) not the timing resistor (grey)? I should have said it was the timing resistor that I was interested in knowing about. Also how is that different from adjusting the spill control valve nut?
Sorry if this has been done to death on here before.
I've been reading/watch plenty of stuff from Oz about resistor Mods. Seems very simple and not sure of the downsides. One thing I cant work out: What does the resistor mod actually do? does it just give you more range to advance/retard the...
Brakes feel a tonne better since servicing the rear calipers. I adjusted the LSPV as well and that seems to have helped a lot. All in all, I think i have set of brakes that actually do what they are supposed to!
