    kzj 73 exhaust, lateral?

Hi all, hope you're all well and dealing with the crazy times ok. The exhaust has gone on my kzj 73 and annoyingly I can only find the silencer boxes for the 70, and it's too small to fit the mountings etc. Have to wait until mid October for correct one with Toyota (and its not cheap)...

    Starter motor whirring whine

Yeah was a total puzzle for a while, thanks for your supplier suggestion I got Simon Holton (such a good guy!) to order a new one last week before I saw this, hopefully will be with me on Thursday so I can reassemble.

    Starter motor whirring whine

Ok so I found the issue in the end. It was quite obvious when looking at part diagrams, but looking at the actual bit the surfaces were worn super smooth so they looked good! These parts of the armature should be attached!

    Starter motor whirring whine

Hi All, hope life is sweet in the Land Cruiser world, long time no problems, but yesterday the truck didn't start. Battery and connections all seem good, the starter motor just makes a whirring sound maybe with a little whine. I've taken the starter motor off and to bits, it was full of...

    Starting issues - Cold, water?

Started first time this morning. I'm going to try to stop asking questions that seem to end with me finding a crappy connection!! I learnt all about glow plugs now though. I hadn't realised they were only required when cold. Thanks guys

    Starting issues - Cold, water?

Voltage readings to the plugs was correct and turning off, so timer and relay are good. Started dismantling to test glow plug resistances and found that the glow plug connector had corroded and even melted the cover a bit, it had worked itself loose. I've sorted that so hopefully that will be...

    Starting issues - Cold, water?

No, problem still exists with new fuel treated to -22 and anti gel. Guess I'm going to have to check the plugs and the relay... I found the diagnosis guide in EG-9. So that's some fun for tomorrow.

    Starting issues - Cold, water?

Thanks, added the anti gel, and got it started. Will see what happens tomorrow morning and take it from there!

    Starting issues - Cold, water?

Cheers for the quick replies! I was hoping to not rip the filter off after it was such a pain to prime last time. However with a full tank it will hopefully be easier to bleed, may try to clamp the feed tube with some molegrips. There's no trap that I can see. I've sent the misses to the...

    Starting issues - Cold, water?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone can help with this issue... Here's the whole story, incase any of these things are related. The car has been doing fine, we've nearly done 1000km since I rebuilt it. I noticed sometimes a slight smell of diesel from the engine, eventually after investigation I...

KZJ 73 turbo pressure sensor - what does it do with the reading?

Pretty sure it's not had an engine swap. I'm not sure about the overboost light, I'll try to look into it a bit more. Thanks for the thoughts!

KZJ 73 turbo pressure sensor - what does it do with the reading?

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but it seems unlikely that Mr T. would put a sensor there that does nothing?

KZJ 73 turbo pressure sensor - what does it do with the reading?

Anyone any idea what the car does with the turbo pressure sensor reading? My sensor connection seems like it was probably broken in the past and doesnt really feel so secure when you put the tube back onto the sensor pin. I can probably glue it, but I'm wondering what the sensor actually...

    KZJ 73 Overheating Issues

So eventually it's all back together and tested. New 76 deg thermostat, 60ml of 7000 cls silicon oil in the fan, resurfaced and pressure tested head. Tested yesterday on a big snowy mountain, got up no bother with a very loaded truck temp gauge didnt go over half. So very pleased with that...
