    Rear locker actuator removal

I rebuilt mine a few weekends ago. Pretty simple albeit fiddly, you'll need RTV sealant and grease to hand as well as a few fine tools for keeping commutator springs in place, a multimeter, and a nice to have is a bench PSU or 12v battery to test the motor works OK. This pdf Repairing...

    Intercooler failures

Well this is the part that didn't make sense to me either about failure points. And if it did, worst case is that the truck would breathe as it were designed to. Thanks I'll have another read. Such a rabbit hole

    Intercooler failures

Theoretical question time. 1) I've read if you add any type of intercooler to a 1hdft one gets a modest performance increase eg +15hp, even if you don't tune the pump in any way. Like when the truck is cold it goes a bit quicker and is a bit crisper, it stays like that instead of a bit sluggish...

    ACSD delete 1 HDT.

I had the ACSD removed on my HDJ80 due to an air leak allowing fuel to drain back to the tank, preventing a start when parked uphill. After removal it started in London's winter (-3C) but was certainly a bit lumpy at 4-500 rpm and required a bit of throttle or hand idle to bring up to smooth...

    Anyone know Overland Cruisers

Not alone in that regard, unfortunately. I highly recommend a basic google / forum search on any workshop - as well as faith that people are open about their experiences vs being silent just to maintain some kind of working relationship in future.

Letter from The Mayor of London. ULEZ.

My take on this is that £12.50 isn't enough. Clearly I'm not going to scrap the FJ80 for £2000, nor does spending let's say 60K on an equivalent vehicle make any sense to avoid an occasional £12.50 charge. So it is not enough of a penalty to invest in avoiding. I genuinely can't think of a ULEZ...

Shame: RH & IR Cradock Ltd

Yup, though that's ~£130 in Australia, but £516 in UK. So that's quite a markup of 4x. And if that was the correct price, on what planet is that a reasonable amount for items that at worst cost less than £100.

    Insurance Over-reach ??

As mentioned, the code is used for the insurance to essentially confirm that your licence (and that of the named drivers) is as you have declared it. IE correct number of points etc. Rental companies do this too. The request can be triggered by as little as using a comparison site to 'simulate'...

    Soft brake pedal

On the off chance this is useful as a troubleshooting step, my 80's ABS doesn't try to work when the vehicle is moving backwards - and if I recall it's regardless of being in reverse gear or not, implying the sensor/unit can't do the negative maths.

    Brake upgrade

Well... a dirt bike's rear disc is often single skinned so they do overheat... I think the stock rotors on an LC80 are double-skin / vented, but not drilled or slotted, hence my curiosity towards the latter two choices.

    Brake upgrade

I'm curious regarding drilled / slotted rotors. In the dirt bike world people intentionally run solid discs to keep the mud etc out and eating pads - is that not a factor for LC80s?

Diesel Heater - Where to put it!

Thanks @uHu So for an air heater, using Eberspacher S2 D2L as example, 31W at 12V makes 2.6A amps on full chat, with an 'off' drain of 0.34A until it depletes to 10.5V. For 2x100Ah Yuasa, in theory this runs for 200/2.6 = 76.9hrs. But that's not the reality. One could halve battery power in...

Diesel Heater - Where to put it!

Am I correct in thinking that a coolant heater (eg Webasto Thermo Top) would require the cabin fans running via relay, and therefore likely to run down the battery, if used throughout the night e.g. 8 hours?
