I have posted here before about my pal who loves Patrols ( and Bruisers) he has just become the owner of an interesting truck, a 1969 4.2 Nissan Patrol, straight six diesel, the engine I believe is a lot newer than the vehicle, it came with a pair of late leaf spring axles which are allegedly bullet proof, what a find!!! He is well used to restorations , from Porche, Ferrari Mk 2 Escort E type, and of course my 80 series, this project is not gonna be a restoration as he plans to “Rat Rod” it. Something he can green lane, etc. Apparently it never saw the UK shores back in 1969, USA and Canada being the intended market, one interesting feature is if you want left hand drive, just unbolt everything and reconstruct on the relevant side and viice versa, ( have to check that out!) the styling I think reminds me of early Broncos and Scouts, personally I’ve never seen one, maybe a picture but I don’t recall. A rare bird indeed, and guess what, the only rust is around the roof/ gutter seam, here are some pics…best regards to all, Bill Westley

Rare indeed seems insane to turn it into a green lane rat rod , somebody somewhere into restoration will swap it for a running FJ40 maybe ?

If this is the variant which has the semi floating axle and the 4 sp gearbox, just note that there are about 40,000 of these in service across south east Asia, and we're sold new till 1999, and then manufactured on contract till 2014.

As the vehicle stands, it’s on standard axles, it came with a pair of pre Y 60 bullit proof axles which I think has lockers, 3 speed manual gearbox, the 4.2 Diesel engine is we believe a lot later addition, it has barn rear doors and a beautiful spare wheel carrier ( work of art) the body is in remarkably good condition except for the roof which is rusted through where it connects to the rain channel. A quick search on the web reveals not any if any in the UK.it’s in such a good robust condition that it would be an easy restoration.
