I'm interested. Any thoughts lads? I'm in Portugal for a few more weeks. It's in much better nick than mine.

Yes, underbody is where its all at, underbody corrosion first mentioned in 2018, only a close examination to decide how bad.

I had a browse the other day, quite surprised how cheap some 120's are being advertised at, a 2 minute browse on the MOT history soon explained, rust rust and more rust.
Notice some ads deliberately avoid showing or actually cover up the reg plate, am i the only one who wouldn't even bother to go look at one that's obviously hiding the MOT history unless it was literally around the corner.

I’m considering a 120 at the moment. My Collie runs great and has a good chassis etc due to living in a warm climate for half its life, also it’s had all the areas of concern sorted out with genuine Toyota parts, however I fancy something a bit more modern. I have been looking at ads for 120s and checking the MOT history and yes they are cheap for a reason I.e. RUST.
I have almost given up finding a nice clean, well looked after 120 LC3/4 which isn’t rusty, rotten or clarted with new under seal. They must be out there but finding one seems almost impossible.

I wouldn't bother either!

Any thoughts lads?

I tried one a while ago but it was an 09 plate with the five speed auto. I had had my 05 LC4 a couple of years by then but was curious to see if the difference between the current petrol and diesel was comparable with my comparison of my 02 D4D VX Collie and my 3.4 V6 Collie.
Comparing the Collies I liked both but although they both pulled very well I thought the refinement of the V6 won it over for me, the D4D was quite agricultural in it's operation. I still use the V6 collie frequently.

Comparing the 120's I found the difference far closer. The 120 D4D is far more refined than the Collie's one ( the one in mine is very smooth) and the 4.0 V6 whilst smooth sounded a little raucous when asked to do a bit of work, maybe induction roar, I was less impressed with this than I thought I was going to be.
This 120 being an 09 was 90% rust free underneath and ripe for preservation but I passed and kept the D4D, I couldn't see justification to add money to to swap

Going back to the 03 one above, in the real world it's a £3-3.5K car, although it's rare, it's old and seen a fair few winters. JMO.
