Good morning,

I have a 1982 fj and I am looking for a little help. the car is cranking great and idles just fine. when you give it gas to start moving it stalls out. If you press the gas while in neutral super slow it does not stall. I am wondering what could cause this? could it be the carb or maybe a vacuum leak?

TIA
Collin

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me, as we had those exact symptoms on a Camaro and the leak was on the joint to the carb.

At a guess, I would start with the fuel pump checking that it is pumping fuel OK. Then, the accelerator pump which is a plunger type component of the carburetor.

I think it sounds more like option #2.

Look forward to hearing what the problem was.
