hello! I'm thinking it might be time for a proper boot storage solution for the 80. I've built my own in the past, and I may do so again but thought it worth asking for any recommendations. have you got a rear drawer setup you're particularly pleased with that you would recommend? thanks in advance!

Hi Rob

I have Black widow drawers in mine but considering changing my set up. Works great for a overlander but trying to make mine more day to day so may sell in the not to distant future. If you pm my your number can WhatsApp photos

The original, but I got fed up of moving stuff off the tailgate all the timemtomget stuff out the drawers

And how it is now, which is brilliant for what I use it for,.but now I want to see if I can squeeze an ebike inside so it might be time for round 3 soon.

I’m in a similar position. I built a system that worked for what I needed at the time but is now not what I need.

I am just in process of pulling the whole lot out to start again!

That looks pretty epic for a self build! I have a set of ARB drawers which annoy me no end. They don't extend fully which means I'm constantly shuffling things and aren't quite tall enough. I toyed with making my own this summer till I googled the price of HD drawers slides! What's the goal for the new setup?

ah yes having to take things off the tailgate to open the drawers is a problem I hadn't thought of! that's something to consider.

Lorin that looks incredible, I don't think my carpentry skills are quite up to that but congratulations, looks great.

Sounds daft but driven nuts trying to find what i need amongst the multitude of tools in the back of my 80 i recently acquired a couple of plastic fish boxes dating from the 1980's which were far better than modern ones because they were designed to hold as many fish as possible in the smallest area . Designed to be full instead of convenient stacking empty .

Two side by side in the boot with 5 seats sit tidy and easy to slide out with space between to perfectly hold my Milwaukee double drill box stood on its hinge side and my halfords briefcase toolbox stood the same if i put my screwdriver box set alongside it .

Now i can easily access anything in the boot and have nearly a foot spare to stick shopping in with the tailgate shut .

Can't hide the bodies in a drawer system

Like @fbnss I always had an issue with not being able to use the tailgate properly, because of drawer access and Nick's is a clever way around it. I ended up deciding against drawers altogether, so I have 6 of the HD storage boxes that slide under, the benefit to me was, you can get more in and it also allows me to move kit to where I need it, or cook away from the truck etc.
@Lorin Cracking job there Lorin, why the rethink?

My setup has worked well for many years. For a quick brew etc, the left side of the tailgate can be used but usually I take less than 30 seconds to put the little table on the swing out and use that. For anything more than a quick lunch stop, I get the Amazon basics folding table out which must take less than 1 minute to put up, or put away. Short people can't see into the fridge properly, but she manages lol.

I did alter the right drawer to be able to fit a larger fridge and the table above. I find this just about perfect.

I actually just got this one from Solid Wood Worx - its on presale now but I gave my car for the measurements so I got it early. It's great so far but have only had it for 2 weeks. It feels sturdy and the material feels like its going to last.
