I'm looking at order some genuine parts from Amayama and am just wondering on what the delivery times to Ireland are and what sort of duty expenses I'd be looking at on parts totaling €170.

Perhaps someone that has ordered before could enlighten me?

Can take a couple weeks from my experience with Amayama, with regard to customs I've found it really varied as it depends on the value of the goods. I 'think' some things have arrived from them and I didnt pay any customs.

I just find have to wait and see what happens

Have had quite a lot from Amayama. Whether your package attracts or not it will be well cheaper than Toyota, even with a discount. At that price level I'd say it's a 50/50 if they'll pull you. If it was say £250 then it would be a definite.

Ok, I'll try order from them then so as I'm not in a hurry for the parts.

When I go to the checkout to try and complete the process, it's asking for a Tax Identification number? It says Northern Ireland / EU to provide an "EORI" which is a company's vat number.

I'm not a company, just a private buyer, do I put in my PPS number here or what did you folks provide?

I've not had that issue, but havent ordered from them for a year or so.

Can always try Motors Head Japan, they supply OEM toyota parts too, not had any issues with them.

So I was trying to order 4 parts in the end, windscreen wiper linkage and both wiper arms and rear tail lamp wire loom.

It said the drivers wiper arm was unavailable, I emailed them regarding it coming back into stock and I got a reply explaining how some parts are not to be sold into some regions and are only to be got through the manufacturer dealership, Toyota. But the passenger wiper arm is listed as available, weird.

I placed the order and got an email explaining that they received the order and were looking into the availability of the parts and this might take from 1-3 days. I thought they were available as it showed the quantities of the part in stock when looking up the part. I then get an update email a day later, today, with only the wiring loom listed and the shipping increased from €45 to €53 with a link to order.

So not a great experience so far for a first order, the only part them have of my 4 is the one I'm not even looking for mainly. Where do Amayama get their parts anyway, are they just purchasing from Toyota and passing them on or are they buying them from the compoanies that make them for Toyota? Seems funny the way they have to check stock and availability of parts they sell and list on their website.

Actually this is what they said:
"RE: "Delivery term unknown"
The suppliers will not accept orders for parts with this status as there is no schedule to produce that the part number again.
Once the manufacturer schedules another production run, they will start accepting orders again.
It's not possible to estimate when that will happen as production depends solely on fluctuating demand."

Partsouq has no availability of any of the wiper parts either! Are genuine parts staring to become an issue for these cruisers now, a 120 series, 20 yrs old I suppose so probably many parts discontinued! :)

Here are the part numbers if anyone wants top look them up: feel free to post a link where I can buy them.

Give Motors Head an email and see what they say, have always found them very helpful

I've found customs hit-n-miss as regards getting stung for fees. More 'hit' last few years, especially on large items

have used . mostly ok - no charges and then odd parts get custom charges

Has anyone used this parts site before, direct from Japan. Any experiences?

They seem to be showing on megazip. Also definitely showing on the Russian equivilent of "onlineautoparts", possibly the best parts company i've ever used. (But not much use unless youre in and out of Russia like myself!)

There is a megazip.net for europe

Thanks for the Megazip.net site, I'll have to make note of these sites for future reference.

I actually was asking about this other site I came across in my last post but forgot to post the link. I have posted it now. onntat. Based in Japan.

There seems to be a few sites from the UAE, united arabs emerites too, has anyone ordered from them, I assume we may get charged customs from there too. They seem to be on ebay as well, UAE sellers.

I was 'lucky' with customs on some large orders that were sent EMS (japanpost) but always got shafted when i used DHL/Fedex. Last few times though i've been screwed for every penny. Its the fundamental problem of the EU. I've alsom been caught with things that should be 0% VAT rated coming from the UK. Got a bill for over 100 euro on a 20 euro item lately actually, so just let it go back.

The irony is, even when you get caught for customs its still substantially cheaper, quicker and easier. Toyota Ireland wanted 31 euros for 2 bolts from me one day. I bought them in a decent engineering place for 5 euro on the way home. Ireland really is treated as a golden cow.
