Only been running veg in it for a week or two approx 1500 miles. I have cleaned the tank and two of the filters on the pump but as mentioned the one under the spill is near impossible to get off it is as if it is rusted in place. I can see that the pump will need to come off to remove it. I have...

Turbo sounds good. Onne of the reasons I suspect gearbox is that the rad has been changed by the previous owner and i suspect it filled the trans with coolant if not cleaned out properly it will not do the gearbox any favours. This issue first started whilst running on diesel only and has only...

I have bought a pup, been sold a lemon, been stitched up, ripped off, shafted!. Which ever way you paint it I am now convinced that the auto box is buggered. The car now only needs to be shown a hill or even a slight incline will do and it reduces itself to 10mph and a faint judder. when it...

It has been suggested that the EGR could be cacked up. Anyone agree I will block it off and give it a go but I am losing faith in it and am looking for yet another Hilux to add to the collection they are easier to fix when they go wrong. I love my Collie but it's not looking promising as a keeper

You guessed it in one shayne Its common then? What guage of steel should I be using then? out with the MIG then I thought it might get a rest now I have sold both my Fourtrak's which incidentally seem to be better at towing than the Collie (unless the other issue is the cause) but with the...

I have checked the fuel system from front to back today but no joy blew the lines out with a compressor, disconnected the breather, changed the filter again but still the same. I tested the gearbox speed sensor to see if that was at fault but the resistance is ok. I also took out the ecu and had...

    Fuel Starvation issues

Took the tank off and the pickup pipe is corroded so a new one will arrive in the morning fingers crossed that will do the trick. I am trying to source a new axle I assume a petrol one will be ok as long as I swap the diff as I should think the ratio will be different? or if I buy a pair will it...

    Fuel Starvation issues

I am going to take the tank of in the morning and investigate the pick up pipes then work forward from there. Another issue I discovered when spraying the buts in preparation for the tank removal is that one of the top link arms from the axle to the chassis has snapped off! I will need to repair...

    Fuel Starvation issues

I was ready for putting it on ebay earlier and buying another Hilux. But it was not expensive to buy in the first place so spending a few quid on it is better than spending some serious cash on a different one and still having to spend on it. At least I know what has been replaced and don't...

    Fuel Starvation issues

could be! is it prudent to replace the lines front to back maybe? I did that on my Fourtrak which was the same vintage the issue with that was the pipe breaking up inside causing a blockage and complete stop.

    Fuel Starvation issues

After a long day keep pulling over on the motorway I have discovered a problem with the fuel system. I have found that I keep needing to prime the filter at regular intervals, apart from the fuel pick up pipe from the tank corroding (my other collie did this) is there any other common issues to...

    Back to the Future .

Just a bit of lift and some tyres gives a collie some real presence my old one was spotted all over the place but the new (to me) standard one just disappears into the crowd un noticed. Seeing a direct comparison makes you realise what a difference a bit of lift makes.

A return to error 14 with different symptoms now! Just like I am driving with the brakes on (its an auto bye the way) I am going to change the transmission fluid, it looks ok and the level is correct but it has had a new rad at some point so may have some water in it maybe. Any ideas?

    Colorado 3" lift

After a little research it appears that the 100 series are a torsion bar set up at the front just like surfs and later hilux's so that rules that one out! I am sure that a company like milner wont have had this kit made especially as the demand is not really that high, so they must be off...

    Rim width

I had the 285 tyres on my old Collie R.I.P they filled the arches to about the same point with standard wheels and a 40mm body lift looked good too I want to send this one up a bit further but with suspension this time and 305s just to get the full 12.5" wide 315/75x 16 would be even better but...

    Colorado 3" lift

I have noticed that milners are selling 3" suspension lift kits for Colorados. I have accepted their offer! the first offer of £2500 was as I expected, so I told the assessor who phoned me that I wouldn't be able to replace it like for like for that money ( i'd be a fool to take that sum). He had a look on the autotrader while I was still on the phone to him and agreed...
