    It's been a while....and now I'm unofficially for sale

As some of you with long memories will recall we’ve been off trotting around the world in the Hedgehog, our overland 100 Series, for the last 3 years. But we are now changing the way we travel and the 100 is blocking the drive and will be put up for sale on the normal channels in the next weeks...

    Warn Zeon 10s Clutch fail

Thanks - I’m going to strip the thing out of the truck and move it to my next project so was going to overhaul it in any case. As you say it should be pretty simple to fault find (being electrical engineer by trade helps ) but as you know fault finding is always simpler with the correct...

    Warn Zeon 10s Clutch fail

The clutch on my Zeon 10s is not engaging - constantly on freespool. The clutch on these is remote/electric. I can hear various solenoids clunking as I switch direction, engage/disengage clutch etc using the WiFi controller. The motor is spinning. Does anyone have the logic diagram or circuit...

Toyodiy - quick way of checking different variants?

Yes and no. Finding a truck as we want it is nigh on impossible. For example lockers, additional batteries, storage etc, etc. And whilst this could all be done in country (cheaply) there is the issue of parts delivery and being on top of the mechanics doing the work (and finding the right...

    HiLux - deep technical help

Yes I could if I knew what the hell I was doing. I started looking at some Russian site that has given a whole bunch of part numbers and some drawings of the extra bits required. It seems to hinge on the engine and model variant that I have and the model variant that I want it to look like - the...

    VDJ79 in landcruisermart

I don’t intend to as I personally have a drive full of vehicles. There is a ready market for these trucks in Australia. I did toy with the idea of bringing it home but I’ve got lots of projects in 2019 and it would be another distraction. I am happy to assist a UK buyer to ship it home at their...

hi everyone - our big lap down in Oz is fast approaching and just to say my very nice truck is up for sale. I’ve offered it to the UK gang first as I know how hard it is to get one here (and this truck is still in Oz). Admins - don’t think this breaks any rules but if it does then apols and...

    2010 VDJ79 4.6L TD - thoughts on UK value?

Do you remember whether those ones 0n ebay were of a high spec, GXL, modded etc or just plain out of the box stuff? You're right about the value of oz cars - I think it must be due to import taxes in the first place. I noticed this in Africa (Zambia) too - out of the box new Troopy well over...

    2010 VDJ79 4.6L TD - thoughts on UK value?

As some of you may know I've purchased the below specced 79 in Australia for a year long trip there. At the end of the trip I can either: 1 - sell it in Oz or 2 - container it back to UK and sell it here. So thinking a long way ahead my head is turning to would it be worth it for me to ship...

Australian 79 owners - rego questions

Thanks Ben. Yes we've travelled extensively around the world and it is weight that kills many cars. We usually weigh everything onto the truck (to the ounce), including ourselves, before we go off. I've got a Westpac bank account set up ready to go, a friendly address, etc. The rego forms are...

Australian 79 owners - rego questions

The VIC rego was bought by the previous owner as we thought it would be best to keep the vehicle registered while it was in limbo between states. I paid the owner to do that just before he transferred the papers to my name and a QLD address. We agreed that if he gets the refund then he will...

Hedgehog - 2nd leg of round the world - North & Central Americas

Correct - there was a whole load of hype around this trail but in all honesty if you are a confident driver and have a good truck then it is straightforward. I think it is a Grade 4 rated trail but only for a couple of short sections - some narrow steps with adverse camber and polished, and the...

Hedgehog - 3rd leg of round the world - Southern Africa

The mechanical set-up I'm pretty happy with. Replaced both the Tough Dog shocks with same after 70,000 hard miles @ full GVM. Most of the stuff we had go wrong/wore out was after-market items e.g. Swing out wheel carrier bearing worn from corrugations; under-belly plates lost a couple of bolts...
