The last thing i want to do is start re-wiring that connector…

This is getting super small detail, but what do you think the best way is to clean the contacts on the wiring loom end (so the connector coming out of the door and inserting into the master switch) - looks like a bit of green corrosion getting in there and wondering if it’s creating a short or...

So I put the part I ordered in, and exactly the same behaviour as from the factory one, which means the switch isn't the issue. So now it's debugging the window itself. If it isn't that, then it's somewhere from the switch to the door... Going to start on it tmrw. @Towpack some feedback on that...

that's attached to the rear mud guard bolts which are hanging free, so totally rusted off... so seems like an opportunity to: - weld in bracket - weld in plate with thread for mud guard

The guy did say that they had to put on a lot of lead (300g) so that implies there wasn't a lot on to begin with... so maybe...? Will take it for a spin tmrw and see how it goes at 66.

Found this today when i got my head in the wheel arch when the tyres were being balanced…. So it’s WAR on the rust worm now…

Thanks. Not going to go back there - the guy was doing 3 jobs at the same time so took over 90 mins just to get the "wheels balanced". They ended off by saying the tyres were "old" (8 yrs) and probably hardened (anyone heard of that? what is the typical lifespan of a tyre? I've got Falken...

I think I found the culprit - take a look at that corrosion… It worked again for a brief 10 mins today then died again. Have ordered the replacement above (thank you!! @Towpack ) as we’re going away tmrw and I can’t drive with family in car & one window open. Will update…

Yup. For me it’s time & cost & knowledge mainly. If we’re only doing 2-4 weeks per year & then camping weekends, i’m not sure a custom system makes sense. If we were doing longer trips & self-sufficiency was needed then for sure. One day when i grow up…

Trips on our agenda over the next few years are more southern Europe, until our two boys are old enough to do Iceland, and then that. After that, hopefully more further east in Europe, or an African trip. Mmm.....

So I’ve got a front bumper with a winch tray. But on all the trips I’ve done so far have only seen a winch used a twice, and both times it saved the day. So I see the point, but I feel like since I’m not into anything dangerous, it makes sense to have a winch for that one day when you need it...
