After reading through the posts again would I be ok for snatch recovery with my current towbar fitted with the ball and pin if I make sure all the bolts are rated highly enough?

You’re right mate. However, because it’s an insurance job £1,000 is labour alone. The parts are all new genuine Toyota which also cranks up the price. VAT of course also accounted for a hefty portion of the cost.

Is it only pics of a Cruiser which is owned by the forum member that are acceptable. I’m thinking of a nice pic I have of a Cruiser Trooper which my family hired for a safari in Rwanda.

My Cruiser is a 2001 so I’m assuming that it doesn’t have rear air con. Many thanks for your help Frank.

This sounds ridiculous but I don’t know. At the back of the cubby box there is a rear high/low heater switch and a large dial which moves from cold to hot through a red indicator. The rear high/low switch is also on the front dash.

Apparently I need a compressor plus clutch and a condenser.

Has anyone fitted Chinese aftermarket aircon parts as this may be an option I have to consider.

This may be a really daft suggestion. However, I had the exact same problem as yourself until I noticed after a couple of days that I had inadvertently put my power heater switch on. I offer this just in case there is a remote chance you have done the same thing.

You are spot on Frank. That’s why I go out my way to go to this dealer.

The dealer has been in touch to say that the problem is that a bracket between the suspension arm and the right hand front sensor has broken. They have fabricated a new bracket and will weld it in position. After it receives a coat of paint the job will be done. £75. I’m a happy camper.
