Hi, My exhaust has split on the rear section and I'm looking for a new one. Roughtrax have one but it's only up to 1996 model. Mines a 98. What's the difference? or do you know where I can find the suitable part? Many thanks Rob

Hmm. The quick pitch looks similar to the Alu-cab and the bush company one. Given how heavy they are I’d rather not be having to put it on and off a lot but I do carry a canoe on a fairly regular basis. I’ll keep looking. thanks for the suggestions!

Thanks for the replies. I spoke to someone who sells the tent box and they warned me off it! The other one that I have seen is the bush company alpha but can’t get one for a while

Hi Does anyone have experience of a rtt that can also carry a load. I’d like a hard shell tent that I can leave on for the summer and still put a canoe on top. The alu-cab gen 3 looks awesome but very expensive. many thanks Rob

Mine turned out to be a bearing race in the swivel hub that had started to disintegrate. It was catching on the axle splines. New bearings sorted out the noise

For anyone interested it’s a bloke called Malcom Douglas who did a series called in the bush.

Hi, Does anyone know where I can get a new exhaust hanger for the rear section. The bit I’m looking for is the piece that goes from the chassis to the rubber mount that then attached to the exhaust. Mines completely disintegrated and I’m struggling to find a replacement. Many thanks Rob

I’ve been thinking about a catch can for a while. Before I get one I’d like to see how much gunk has built up. How hard is it to remove the inlet manifold? Any pointers/bits that I would need?

The springs are very badly corroded and pitted. The car wallows a bit in corners and if you’re a little bit enthusiastic on the way into said corner it can feel a bit unsettling.

Thanks for the replies. I would quite happily replace with Toyota but at £620.00 a pair it's more than I can afford. Does anyone have experience with the roughtrax ones? The ride on this 80 is a lot more supple than my old one and I much prefer it. I don't want to end up with a harder ride...

Hi Can anyone suggest some decent rear springs for my 80. I don’t want to lift it and it’s basically standard. I went to Toyota for prices and the shocks are reasonable but the springs are ridiculous! Any suggestions gratefully received. Many thanks Rob

I’ve got an annoying squealing from the engine bay under load. I’ve had it looked at and the thought that it was the power steering belt but that’s been tightened along with the alternator belt and it’s still squealing. Before I lose my mind have any of you got an idea of what could be causing...

A quick update. I got a new 80 a few weeks ago. Thank you to all those that helped me out! Now I just need to sort out the issues on this one that I had already sorted on my last one!

That's what I would have thought. It cornered fine and cruised ok, it was just very slow from initial getaway. It's only done about 3k miles in the last 4 years.

Evening - I've agreed a valuation with my insurance company and now on the hunt for another 80. I went and had a look at one last night but there are a couple of things that concern me. On the last 3 MOT's there's been an advisory for rust on the rear chassis rails around the tower mounting...

There’s not a lot of room to manoeuvre once you’re in there! There’s plenty of signage on both sides of the arch clearly giving me priority. The police are very clear that I’m not at fault for the accident.

Hi Gary I suspect it was the incident that you heard on the radio. As you can see the other car came off badly. Makes me want another big vehicle!

Thanks. The other car was embedded and mangled very badly. The driver was lucky. Given I was doing no more than 15mph at impact he was going some. I’m collating as many expensive 80 adverts as possible and then sending them through to the insurance company. I’ve already refused their first offer
