Hi Bob I've got a transfer box from my kzj95 automatic but I'm not sure there is anything wrong with it, me and my brother thought it was a transfer box issue so bought another one and fitted that but it turned out to be the front diff that had blown and the original transfer box is sitting in...
Use wd40 on the catch itself and on the cable under the catch and at the same time have someone operate the catch from inside the car the cable can seize up as these are getting on a bit now and just need a bit of lubricant to loosen them up
It has the now very distinctive clunk knock jolt tune playing so it will move but slowly I'm reluctant to drive it for fear of anything else being destroyed so its sat in my brother's yard until a new diff can be found or the 2wd solution can be solved. So it seems front prop off, drop front...
It
It does thanks I think I will try to run it in 2wd until I can find a diff of the correct type and right price or possibly put an elocker in. Has anyone run their truck in 2wd if so what needs to come off and is it safe?
Thanks
Thanks Chris yes I've just read that thread and full of great info and from memory I think mine said R57 on it which has me confused but I will confirm when I get back to the truck after lunch
Right gents I'm in need of a front diff for a 1997 lwb Colorado with the 1kzte engine if anyone has one or knows of one and a rough guide on how much I can expect to pay thanks for any help or if anyone wants to buy said truck with a busted front diff then make an offer
thanks Shayne I have 33" muds plus the 80 series suspension lift so I can't go any higher but it's now a question of clearance and protection and where it's required for the lanes that I will be driving
Simon
thanks sidesteps are off already could I use the same holes to bolt the rocksliders to
Simon
This advice is just what I'm looking for. A brilliant resource
thanks but it does raise more questions ie how much clearance do you need to drive that lane, where do you need that clearance approach/departure angle break over angle will a bodylift improve things enough. with enough clearance are rocksliders a necessity
Simon
I have been invited on a day laning in the peaks and hollinsclough is on the cards and I'm wondering if my lifted collie will have enough clearance to avoid being smacked up the arse or having the sills bashed. so would a bodylift be a requirement and or rocksliders any advice welcome

the research I found was that if it left the factory with an arb then it's a fail if it's not there at test time regardless of any updated suspension upgrades. having said all that there is anecdotal evidence of cars passing without the arb as the tester was familiar with car and owner
Simon
hi all the 80 series fronts will be to big to directly replace 90 series fronts I just replaced with standard 90 series fronts and added a spacer which levelled it up nicely with the 80 series lifted rear end.
be interested to see if yours passes mot with the arb removed Shayne. I bottled out...
Apologies for not being about but family and work got the better of me. I will be using nissan terrano droplinks on the front suspension and moving the front droplinks to the rear. I may remove the rear sway bar altogether and see how it handles before a final decision and see if it passes the...
I have standard 80 series rear shocks in the back of mine and no modding or drilling required and standard 80 series front springs in there as well the only mod I need to do is swap the sway bar drop links for longer ones but otherwise that setup works well for me
Simon
Dented the rear upper panel and some scratches but what I was more concerned about was the chassis but all seemed fine on the journey to Barrow-in-Furness and back.
Yes getting a winch fitted did spring to mind but the only time I needed it was when I was on the road and didn't pay enough...
This was my eventful weekend started off with a trip to Birmingham to pick up my adjustable drop plate then on my way back home to pick a mate up came round the corner to find an emergency vehicle with blues and twos on coming the other way so did the easy thing and pulled on to the verge not...
Hi stu I'm in Glasgow with work so could call in on my way back to lincoln on Friday and on Thursday 8th I'm heading down to bristol so could get it there if you can wait till next week
Regards Simon
Just got back from a weekend Laning around Norfolk and couldn't be happier with the ride and performance of the new suspension setup I just need to fit the longer droplinks as I think that was the clunking noise but other than that truck kept up with the discos and defenders even when the...
Shit, shayne that's dedication thanks very much so mine is quite a bit taller then so I think it's a yes to the diff drop and longer droplinks as well as the wheel spacers
Thanks for going out in your bathrobe I'm sure your neighbours enjoyed it
Not wishing to sound like Steven (sae70) I would be interested in measurement of others that have lifted their trucks in a similar way just to see how they compare to mine above
Would putting a diff drop on have any detrimental effects if the angles don't look to bad?
Ground to under flare measures 980 all round and bottom of rim to same point measures 810mm all round and I've only put new standard height springs and shocks plus a 25mm strut top spacer on so was surprised by the gain at the front. So do we think get it on a ramp and see what happens at full...
