Are U doing this Yourself? If no dipstick, there is a special adaptor used to fill oil into ARM cranckcase.
This filling hole is also the level-indication. The level should be adjusted while the box at XX Temperature & ideling i neutral IIRC.
U will loose some oil here, part of the game.
Reg...
In all fairness, draining the oil on a autotranny oily gets out a fracture of the content.
Dropping the pan at least adds 1l if not more to the quantity oil having to be replaced. One also gets to inspect & clean the magnets.
On the A750F I have worked on, no dipstick, I used the genuine filter...
While surfing around the good old interweb I came across an add for a MY 1998 Land Cruiser VX with some problems........... Abit of debating back & forth....... I jumped into the car with one of my best automobile buddies & took a peek.
The vehicle itself looked fairly straight, the know...
Then there is the green MY 1998...........
Late Winter I decided to dig into a small rust spot on the rear wheel arch. As the rest of the body is genuinly MINT, this did bug me
When digging further into this, I found an old repair (Toyota) that isn`t very well done... So all steel behind the...
It has been awhile again.............
I will try to fill in :)
The oldest Land Cruiser MY1996 has had some issues from Day1.
Mostly being related to sluggish start....
Some nice 18" rims from a J15 made their way to me
This prevented me from using it on a regular basis but she was around when...
I assume You see LESS Salt on Aussie roads then....
If I understand UHU roght, Lanotec is the same as Lanolin or FluidFilm.
Fluid Film being the "European" bradename for the automotive industry. It comes in a variety of forms.
From piss-thin to thick grease.
I would 1000x rayther have a sticky...
Hi Nonni!
Yes I did
The bottom end was totally knackered. Bearings gone... Why no white metal showed up in either sump nor filter remains a mystery.
There was some tear on the crank too.... Nothing worth a rebuild...
Sorry, no pictures.
Parts of the engine are now living on in other Cruisers :-)
Hey, Thats NEAT!
Spot on Clive :-) Very nice of You
I did do abit of google-thing last Night but it did not take me fully ashore...
Any hints, Tips or similar with reference to the J2 engine that I need to be epscially aware of?
The unit has not got THAT many hours on it, but needs some TLC now
Is LANOTEC the same as LANOLIN?
Basically Sheeps fat?
As used in the shipping industry from around early 70`s to the late 90`s...
If so I use it.
My neighbour sprays the KROWN stuff. I have for the last year or so asked him for a sample..... & I am still waiting :) I understand they make a big...
Hi Guys!
I am looking for service manuals & possible a workshop manual for a Toyota J2 Engine.
For the very special interested parties, the lump currently rests in a Toyota 7SDK that has skidded underneight my tools :-)
Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)
As I have started to "share" I might as well show You guys the older on, MY 06/96 and abit rough around the edges... The rims are ..................shall we say "a matter of need".... The PO had run the rims that came with the vehicle with loose wheelnuts & some thin spacers, leaving only 5...
Even though this thread started out for a spesific vehicle, I now seem to have added another similar Land Cruiser to my fleet, its a MY 09/98
I have already put her to work.......... :kissing:
Hi Andy!
Thanks for the heads up on the 80-Diff.
The J8 is rather rare over here, so sourcing a donor is definately not easy.
I have for now my hands on a genuine J9 complete rear axle, so I hope thats gonna keep me "locked" :-)
So in the path of my paralel "non runner thread" I was looking for parts...
The 90 is not that often found with breakrs this side of the fishlake.... So when a vehicle described as a "drivable wreck" was offered, I jumped on it.... Little did I know that the body was close to immaculate for its...
Indeed!
Now he can come CRUISE along & pick up the shit he has stored with me :D
Jokes aside; It means I am not parting with any of my Cruisers for now to keep him rolling.
Once we did come to the conclusion that the spill valve was indeed fried & luck stood us by seen as we had at least 1 in...
Thanks Andy!
I was gunning for the 60D but the LadyBoss wanted to "supersize"... the fridge :-)
I was occationally run it off a 75Ah NationalLuna Powerbox. Its very flexible & eases the pain when switching vehicles. I am going to add a solar panel to the RTT, so thats gonna add power to the...
FINALLY some good news.
With a "bent out of shape" 32mm spanner, the oil filter removed & language not to be shared with smaller kids, the "new&used" spill valve is in place & the Cruiser is doing what it is supposed to do; CRUISE :-)
Thanks You Everyone who piched in! Big big THANKYOU from our...
All that being said; I rescently worked on some brake pipes on a LC100
As we all know they tend to come with some funny shapes & tricks...
At the end I figured -> Screw this, buy from Toyota. The price was most reasonable IMO & made life very easy.
I still very so often make uf new brake lines...
Which SnoMaster have You got?
I have got 2 `82s & one 40 is due in. Contemplating buying a console cooler as well
The "InDoorBoss" demanded the big 82 double... It does take up alot of room though..
I very much like the remote control and bag on them.
The cigarett lighter plug will be replaced...
The wheels mentiond above are Aussie DYNAMIC rims & they come to Europe through
OUTBACK IMPORTS in France.
I was initially shopping for the same. As I do not have the wide body, I need narrower rims for my vehicle...& hence I will get genuine Toyo J6 for myself.
OK, this is off the top of my head so be gentle...
I dont recall every detail of the conversation I had with a britisch Gentleman reg this topic this summer, but I understand there are many pitfalls & this was later in a completely separate conversation confirmed by someone else....The later...
We ran (replaced) a fair few 10000 meters of SS pipe on a job some 10 years ago. We did flare them.
They where industrial grade 316 (+ something) & intended for instrument purposes.
We had an hydraulic flaring tool.
Otherwise there was no chance.
I have neither come across SS "brakelines" as...
Ref Fuel; & for future reference, The J10 has the same
At least the ones I have come across :-)
I`ll make sure the system gets descently primed before he gets cranking.
When I spoke to my buddy last night, he had sort of given up on removing the spill valve & was contemplating replacing the...
I agree, I`d swap the pump
BUT, as I havent picked it up, I aint wrenching on it (yet).......
Got some "green oval" with a french taint in the shop thats wiping a smile off my face.....o_O
Spill valve fitted -> 0,3Ohm
Spill valve in spare pump -> 1,7Ohm
So based on BEAU`s figures, the on fitted to the car is fryed.
Will likely be replaced today or tomorrow....
Then one will see........
Thanks BEAU
I will have the resistance measured just to have a comparison value.
RPM; True, I have asked for this info & is has yet to come to me.
EDIT-> The RPM is "operational" I have been told
Between my buddy & I we have 2-3 KZTE engines sitting on pallets, so a replacement (relative low...
Agreed
The Arabs often are more affordable than the Japanese..... Go Figure!
You coould also check with Terrain Tamer for parts. I`d be gobsmacked if they are not in stock in France
Let me know if You need contact details or similar
You`de have to look at the quality. They will be a genuine bitch to flare...........
Back in the day I was considering seemless hydraulic pipes for this on my teen boy racer. Had alot of buddies @ work who also where petrol heads that convinced me not to do it.
The saga continiouses
Unfortunately not for the better
A new 2.nd Hand ECU was sourced & fitted. It did not change much
The engine intitially fired but ran rough, Now not even that is happening....
The enigne is simply not letting fuel through to the injectors.... so that it now doesn`t fore...
Let me correct myself then; TüV Nord does not accept copper pipes.
AFAIK TüV Süd is the same, I`d have to ask my TüV Süd contact spesifically.
I know this is a subject / topic especially when older cars are being brought in from the UK.
As there are now 3 (-4) very different approval companies...
FrontRunner MK1 is fully welded. Much like todays BritPart RR
FR Slimline 2 is fully bolted in segments. The corners tend to corroded as if going out of fashion. PC lifting....
