Thanks both I'm not sure how much damage is inside as has started squeaking then some knocks before I've 'abandoned ' near a garage...I was just driving home after the purchase ! Then the mechanic said it'll be better of buying a complete axle...pfff...stuck !

Hi I've just purchased a 2001 land cruiser 3.4 petrol ( VZJ 95) for offroad... But I was so unlucky ( scamed actually ) and the rear dif has gone My local mechanic, not a toyota lad or offroad maniac , has said that the dif needs replacing - as it had a crack or something and had been fixed...
