    cleaning out fuel injector bores?

So, for some feedback here - I ended up making up a tool similar to the Laser Tools piece. Basically fitted a 10mm easy-out onto a round bar, with a slide. The seats were still extremely difficult to remove, but managed to get them all out.

Yeah I soaked with carb cleaner also... Having a tool made up now similar to the laser tools washer puller. Let’s hope that does the trick.

    cleaning out fuel injector bores?

Plenty searching trying to find alternatives - hence the thread resurrection... I have soaked with a WD40 alternative overnight and will try again this morning. Issue is that the copper washer has now opened up and I feel that the M8 thread is probably cutting into the head. Will try find...

CDL not engaging in Low Range -1994 VX80.

I climbed under the truck and bridged the various sensors. Both the L4 position sensor and the CDL light engage sensor are seized. Bridging them out engages the actuator motor and locks the diff. will be pulling the TC out to sort the PTO cover gasket and will freshen everything else up while...

    cleaning out fuel injector bores?

Did you gents come across any issues with removing the injector seat? I’m battling to remove mine. Got one of them out with an M8 slide hammer tool but the rest I’m not winning with. it seems that the M8 threads through the washer in and into the head. Mine are well stuck and think the might be...

What did you end up doing here Nathanrobo? I’ve got the same issue here. Wondering if I can knock them out and just use a seat reamer to clean up any damage?

    1HD-T Turbo Troubleshooting

So an update - the turbo shop did some test and an inspection. They say all checks out fine, other than the wastegate cracking at 0.7bar. They say they have adjusted it to crack at 1.0bar now. Let’s see what happens...

    1HD-T Turbo Troubleshooting

In addition, it takes extremely long to reach 0.8bar. A lot longer than I’d expect. See video below. New video by Sean Richards - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club] i can’t really see any big exhaust manifold leaks. Also did a boost leak test and it holds quite well - so nothing major on the cold side...

    1HD-T Turbo Troubleshooting

Decided to cautiously test with the actuator input port vented to atmosphere. In the theory that the actuator might be damaged and it was actually opening under EMP. In this config, it reached and held a peak of 0.8bar. So either EMP is opening the WG at 0.8bar or there’s something else wrong...

    1HD-T Turbo Troubleshooting

Hi All, Ive recently just bought a truck with 180k miles on it and a bit of a gap in its history. At some point in its history it has had an intercooler installed and an aftermarket turbo. After plenty digging, I’ve identified the turbo as a TD05H-16G. Not sure of the exhaust housing size just...

    TD04H on a 1HD-T

Gents, Anyone have any experience with aftermarket turbos on the 1HD? In particular - alternatives to the normal off-the-shelf Gturbo and Mamba turbos? looks like my truck has had a TD04H installed at some point in its history. Thoughts on this turbo?

CDL not engaging in Low Range -1994 VX80.

Thanks for posting this Dyl and for everyone’s advice. The friend in this post is me. Ended up buying the truck and am playing with the sensors to find the issue. It did engage once and both front and rear also engaged once the CDL worked. Was only successful once though. Plan now is to try fool...

    Washer Check Valve

Saying that though, it doesn’t explain why it leaks when it fails. Should either flow or not flow. Unless the failure is a diaphragm perish/tear problem. My 80 has this issue too. Also had bad washer fluid tank seals. Replaced them and it still leaked. Have just blanked off the headlight washer...

    Washer Check Valve

Doubt they will still work. It must be some sort of pressure relief valve. Closes when internal static pressure head is around that of a full washer fluid tank, but opens when the pump runs and increases internal head.

Some potentially tough times for the less fortunate in SA at the moment. Although the prelim numbers seem to show the infection rate drastically reduced. Let's see how that pans out. Not entirely sure the numbers are a true representative. I'm pretty upset that I didn't buy enough spares to...

    Hello from locked-down Cape Town

Hi All, I have recently bought my own 1HD-T 80 series in sunny South Africa. It's a UK import VX so has its roots in the UK. She needs a bit of TLC with some ropey mods over the years so hoping to lean on some of your knowledge wealth to get !e through the TLC required. I have worked on...
