    UK Media on the 250

I think the hybrid version will be the one to have. Yes there’s more complexity and the battery in the boot floor takes up a fair bit of space but it will provide much more torque (even though 500NM in the 2.8L 4cyl sounds more than enough)

Loss of power when accelerating up hills

MAP sensor could be the issue so I’d change that first. Lots of things it could be but I’d tackle the usual service items after if not done recently such as air filter and fuel filters. Also check for a vacuum leak

Engine rebuild update and warning to others regarding second hand parts

Great job solving that problem. Hopefully all good from now. I’ve had similar experiences with second hand parts. A loom I bought ended up having a broken wire that caused days of head scratching. Not sure it was worth the saving

    Advice on brake upgrade

I would go with the lower cost Toyota option as it doesn’t seem like you need any marginal improvement in braking performance for your use. I’d look shop around too for reputable brand alternatives could be a lot less

    Really?

Strange it was reduced to £20k and then sold now is back up at £25k. Either buyer messed about or seller had second thought on price. Looks a good job from the photos

Chassis Rust Removal -- Recommended Tools for Awkward Areas?

I like to use the poly discs in a small grinder for surfaces but they do wear quite quickly. For corners and tighter areas I use 6mm wire brushes in a die grinder. I think I bought both corded secondhand for under half the price of new. It’s no fun under ramps and axle stands so use a full face...

It doesn’t look great although I find the GR sport version more appealing with the back grill and bumpers

That looks very nice. Love the blue and wheels look great

    Really?

It would be based on how much it would cost to get a used one to the condition you want for the the intended use. Maybe up to £40k otherwise I’d start looking at some nice 200s. There was a 4,700 mile 80 stateside that went for $165k. Collectors logic is different though

    Really?

A GS wouldn’t have come with a sunroof from the factory I don’t think so even if specified from new would have to have been fitted after. Alloys have also been fitted later. Looks very nice though and I’m liking the contrast of the original grey bumpers more and more

    1hdft 3" exhaust upgrade

Put a duel exit (one each side) in front of rear wheels like the G63 AMG then set both rear tyre pressures a couple of PSI lower. Obviously makes more sense on the v8 with 2 exhaust manifolds

Went to see @AndycruiserguyLomas today as he kindly offered to put the Cruiser up on his ramp to have a good look around. Andy’s keen eye and knowledge on these vehicles spotted some bits I hadn’t noticed that I will sort whilst tidying up the underside. A missing bump stop and the condenser has...

    'Deliverance' type Squeal!!

Mine did this the other day after a few mins from cold pulling away under load. It’s not the timing belt and you can turn the air con on and off so do that first to rule out. That just leaves the two parallel aux belts. One of mine has more give than the other when you press on it so suspect...

Small niggles that are on my list to fix over the next few weeks: TVSS remote locking and alarm not working. Previous owner said it kept going off randomly a few years ago and disconnected it which is a sign of either the battery going or module playing up. I believe the battery is in the wing...

    ‘97 80 series intro

Hi all, After a 1.5 year search I finally found a myself Cruiser. I was looking for a 60 or 80 but over the last year leant towards the 80 as realised I preferred the extra power, improved ride and mod cons. I looked at at least 10 80s in total up and down the country and everyone I looked at...

    Wanted - 16” 80 series alloys

Hi all, finally found myself an 80 series after a near 2 year search. I’ll post something up about it with some photos soon. I am after a set of original 80 series 16” alloys for it. Will probably give them a powder coat soon so condition not important but obviously no big gouges, cracks or...

Odd spec 80 on auto trader one to test the true landcruiser nut.....

I went and had a look on way home from work and it was awful. Worst corrosion I have seen yet on body and underside. Tennis ball size hole straight through on the front wing and the underside had been sealed with no preparation of the metal surface so looked a complete mess. Sills were very bad...

80 series chassis rust guidance needed

Yes I didn’t mind travelling and was worth a look. It’s got plenty of the other issues too but none that can’t be relatively easily sorted whilst being used. Who are the go to people that know these cruisers to get the underside work done?
