100 Series aircon compressor rebuild options?

Had a similar issue on the 120. Got a replacement from Opioil at the time which was the cheapest I could find. No idea why they sold Aircon compressors

Interesting, talk about gloves off and pistols at dawn. I can't be arsed to mediate between the two of you. You have both been around on this forum for a number of years and you have a spat over gas bottle fittings... I will pick up a point made by Shane though, and that's regarding the forum...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

Thanks, only been in a short drive in one, and we could not drive this one as it had just come in so have not been inspected. Did a bit of searching and cat theft not a big issue on these as it seems you can't easily get to them from underneath. One of the first jobs will be to get the...

Well decision made and deposit put down on a 2.5 year old Lexus NX 300h..... So still in the Toyota family, but certainly not a Land Cruiser. Has all the toys and balance of the 10year Lexus warranty, let's see if this lasts as long as the 120 did...

Turbo gone - how to know engine is ok?

It's not a lot of work to remove the cam cover, however you will need to remove the injector pipes, so will need a crowfoots socket. In theory these are use once pipes, but I removed and refitted mine at least 3 times

    Subjective MOTs

The most tested I used up untill recently for my car's and bike including the LC was fine and would only fail the vehicle for genuine issues, however last year I took the Audi for a mot, and the passed certificate. Few months later I was online and checking something and found he had actually...

    Noisy pulley

The bearings go on the Aircon clutch. I changed mine a few years ago, my replacement was from Opi Oils which at the time was the best price. Easy ish to do, fortunately my gas had leaked out already so I didn't need to get it vaccumed

And of course there is brand snobbery from the Mrs..... I agree the 7 year warranty from the Korean lots is good, and certainly their reputation from a reliability perspective is great too. Not really a fan of leasing as I feel it's just sunk money. I should prob work out what leasing my 120...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

To be fair we weren't unhappy with the 120. Perfect for our needs, but the rust was the killer. I just could not be arsed to crawl under it and try to clean that up. Prob would have cost £1-2k to get it done, but I know that these rust from the inside out on the chassis, so not convinced on the...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

It really is a bad trend and direction. That and the subscription model that the manufactures are pushing. We are no nearer deciding what we want. I may look at 2nd hand 150's, but I am put of by Toyota and their approach to rust.... Lexus RX may be a option, but Mrs not overly in love with...

Thanks SC, I knew you had a Toureg, didn't know you also had a Q5. Mrs didn't like the Q5 as much as the GLC, also it's kinda small inside, odd as it is a big car. I doubt whatever we get will last 17years like the 120 did. Tell you what the Mercedes dealer I contacted is relentless, but I...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

I live on the outskirts of London, and often drive into the outer parts of it, so ULEZ is a thing and one of the reasons for changing the 120 as it wasn't compliant. If it wasn't that the Mrs wants a higher car, prob would have got a small ev like a Zoe as that really meets all the...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

Honest truth we don't need a 4x4, and certainly not a capable one. We don't tow, don't have a muddy track etc. The 120 only ever went off-road a handful of times and that was to play at Salisbury Plain or at Tony's farm. Last few years, was only really used to take stuff to the dump or or...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

Just looked at these and these are the Ute style vehicle, so not for us. Ssangyong do a Rexton which for 30k gets you something slightly newer and lower mileage than the Merc, Audi and Jag brands. Not enough difference for me to go for this brand. Having said that it's prob more reliable...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

It really is a tough one. I'm not so bothered by the new cars and all the electronics, just gobsmacked at the cost of new cars. Crazy money. £30k gets a 3 year old mid sized SUV thing, which lets be honest all look the same. Worst thing is when you look at any reliability reviews all the big...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

It was a impulse sale and I may live to regret it, but the options are interesting. Jaguar F Pace looks interesting as does the Merc GLC. Will need to go and actually look at these, but sadly these are all Chelsea tractors compared to the 120. (And yes I know compared to the 80's the 120 is a...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

Mrs wants a higher car, so some sort of cross over pretend a SUV vehicle. Personal choose would be something like the Porsche Macan, Audi Sq5 or the VW Touareg, but all are way over budget. Tesla was a company car, changed jobs 4 months ago so I had to give it back. Perhaps a EV or hybrid...

    Sad day, Don't hate me

Well it had to happen sooner or later. 120 has been sold. Received a fair offer for it so off it went. Had it from new, 2005 /55 plate with 141k miles on the clock. It wasn't fault free, but never let me down, but starting to rust in the usual places and had a drone from somewhere, I suspect...

End of diesel overland travelling in Europe.

So London has had congestion charging and ULEZ for a while, has anyone seen any stats as to a sustained reduction in either or both? The cynic in me sees these as just a money making opportunity, but happy to be swayed by data

    Jump Start mess up

I can't recall, but had a issue and it needed to come out. I think I just refurbed the brushes, or maybe just cleaned then out. The 120 got a bit of a soaking at Salisbury plain quite a few years ago, so I think that started the issues
