1978 FJ40 Clutch release cylinder parts

Years ago when my clutch pushrod bar bar snapped, Milners had all the necessary parts in stock and I received them the following morning. Worth trying them. Rodger

    Lucky or what?

I am on a 40 series feed from Australia which, on occasions, gets input from guys with 25 and 28 series trucks. The following incident was posted over the weekend and the consideration the writer showed by not wanting to park blocking anyone's access really paid off. Lucky or what? The other...

    Hello all!

Hi Collin, Both trucks look good. Is your '82 a factory soft top? Because my 40 is an ex-winch race truck I have used the full six-point roll cage as the hood frame and had the soft top made to fit but recently I acquired a factory soft top at the right money and, of course, it is higher than...

    1976 FJ40

As Ben says but the resistors are on top of the blower unit in the engine bay. It could be trapped wires between the plastic casing where it joins the heater unit but IMO more likely to be with the blower unit: is the drain hole blocked? does the blower motor run freely? Rodger

    Sound deadening FJ40

Your FJ40 looks amazing, a beautiful restoration. I would like to see more photos of it. Regarding the sound deadening, being a soft top we did not use any sound deadening but, having travelled in a hardtop 40 in the past, it is a necessary addition and it will enable you to hear the radio...

    Thermostat p/n bj73 with vm 5 cylinder

I don't know if it will help but years ago when helping a friend with his 5 cylinder VM powered 73 we got the parts we needed from a VM dealer as these engines are used in various equipment including road sweepers etc.

Hi from NZ. I’m new here and to this forum stuff but I need some help/advice.

I had similar problem on my 40 and it was the flex fuel line between the chassis fuel line and the engine which had degraded and swelled inwards thus restricting the fuel flow. Obviously your truck is a lot newer and undoubtedly more sophisticated but it might be worth checking that flex pipe...

    wiring harness BJ42

Hi Erik, The wiring kits are no longer available. I8mud recommends that you recondition your existing loom by stripping the casing off and testing the resistance of each wire and replacing where necessary. There is a universal 4x4 wiring loom kit available in Australia at...

40 Series purchase…what am I looking out for?

Sorry for the short reply before but had loads going on. The tent is great, good head room, easy to erect and attach to the truck and secure, as a tent can be, when we leave it. Folds up to be very small too. Regards, Rodger

40 Series purchase…what am I looking out for?

Hi, It looks very good. It looks like it has had a body off restoration. Powder coated chassis, pedals align, no heater but aircon instead. (very few Oz trucks had heaters). Get the owner to put one of the Oz style external sun visors on it (2nd truck from right in photo) (they do a square...

    Windscreen replacement Yorkshire

Have you tried your local branch of a national windscreen chain? When my screen (40 series) was damaged (large stone from a tipper truck) I phoned and they had them at the depot and withe a 'what colour tint would you like, sir? Blue, green or clear.' It was fitted the following day. Regards...

Hi Andy and welcome.... It takes a bit of time to gain that confidence but once you have you will go anywhere in your 40. Mine has been my DD for the last 15 years. Introduction, oil leak and inner axle seals…

Hello Hugh and welcome... Exactly as Ben says but keep the shims exactly as you find them and replace them in the same upper or lower location. With luck these will be as per the factory assuming that previous rebuilders have replaced them where they found them. Regards, Rodger

    Hi Everyone, Mario from Spain

Hello Coco and welcome... We're down in Granada province and when we registered our 40 series it was deemed to be too modified to go on historic plates but also down here you have to have another vehicle and are limited to 5000 kms per year, so that didn't work for us. Your 70 looks good...

Some years ago when the shipping costs went through the roof, I set up an account with BorderLinx. FJ45 Short Bed Question

Hi Craig, The truck is a BJ40 , produced in April/May 1975. It's an early one as production started in February that year. It was built as a hardtop with barn type rear doors. 3litre diesel with a 4 speed is stock for that model. Check the seller's paperwork does not list as a FJ45 because it...
