    Day out in N Wales.

Had a day off and went laning in N Wales ( yesterday). A few different Jap 4x4's in this group, 3 80's ( including mine) lots of Collies and Patrols, all very capable. A few pics. I seem to have brought some of N Wales back with me. De grassed it and greased the props ready for...

    Back from Cyprus.

Having decided to have a week off between Christmas and new Year we went for a break in the sun. Maria's nephew has a Colorado D4D manual which I wanted to see as he uses it predominantly for wild camping with his wife, small child and their friends It's set up with soft shell RT, annex...

Make the most of every day!!

Over time I've had quite a few conversations with a fellow member Geoff Wyman aka TALAMAN on here. He lives in Paphos Cyprus and we had met up last time we were here. The plan was to be taken out for the day in his Prado into the hills for an look around. I spoke to him a couple of months ago...

    Changed the front end.

I've had the alloy front bumper on the 80 for a good while now, which I have liked but doing quite a bit of green laning I've felt the need to fit a winch as nearly everyone I go out with has one. I've had the tubular bar and winch tray on an 80 I've had kicking about for at least 10 years so I...

    Hesitation on my V6 Collie

This might require a bit of help from overseas where the V6 Prado/Colorado is a bit more common. The Collie starts up and runs fine but when it's warm it has a hesitation for a second before it sets off from a tickover, as you would set off from a junction or entering a roundabout from a...

    Seen some snow today.....

It got a lot worse than this, 30-40 cm. This was only on the high ground. when you dropped 2-300 ft it was raining. The 80 was awesome, never put a tyre wrong and there was some really steep snowy climbs and descents I got right to the campsite and couldnt get the final 10m into the entrance to...

    My 1990 High Roof 60

I bought this in 2003 and ran it till 2005 when I MOT'd it and backed it into the garage to do " a job or two" There it stayed till this year when someone expressed an interest in buying it so I had to resurrect it to pass it on. Its a 2H engined automatic with an LSD axle and air con...

    Wheel bearing woes

this mornings job was the N/S wheel bearing on the 120. Simple and straight forward if you buy the ready built hub and bearing assembly. I hadn't driven this for a good while and only that Maria said the ABS light had come on had come on did I have to investigate. Diagnostics said foreign body...

    Llangollen steps.

Out at the weekend green laning around Llangollen. The mighty 80 sorting out the " steps". Pulled over pretty well with the front diff locked. This is what it looked like from the other side. Another Collie scrambling over.

    Fuel economy

Just done a 400 mile round trip this morning in the 120 to drop some stuff off. 95% motorway Averaged 65 mph and 26.7 mpg (Brim before and after). Comparing the D4D Collie would have got 30.

    Seeking a front diff unit.

As above seeking a front diff unit for a Colorado/Prado 4.3 diff ratio AO2 axle code. This is not for me but a good friend. Any help would be appreciated as its his daily. Hilux callipers for a 60 .

As above, a pair of Hilux callipers that fit on 60 axles that allow bigger brake pads to be fitted. They came off a running 60 at the time and have been waiting to be refurbished on the bench for years. I now know I'm never going to use them so I'll pass them on and put the money to something...

And another one on its way.

This left this morning, my 61. I had had intentions of restoring it ( hence all the different colour mint panels) but I let it go to a much younger enthusiast to add to his collection. It will be restored within the year to pristine condition and I'm sure pics will follow.

    100 Series genuine load liner.

As title, genuine 100 series load liner. As can be seen it has a crack in it on one side and a couple of chips out of it. This is an easy fix with a bit of plastic and some "TigerSeal". Reason for sale I have an undamaged one. In the past I have used conveyer belting to cover the base to stop...

    Going electric.

Well chaps after some deliberation I've finally given in and decided to go the Tesla 4x4 route. This means I'll be ridding myself off all things LandCruiser and I'm buying a caravan to tow behind so all the camping gear is going too. The last 26 years of Cruiser ownership have been truly...

Typical Toyota, first attempt start in over a decade.

As I had cleared my house garage out and installed my 61 in to restore ( which had been in storage since 2010) I'd got it fairly stripped down to remove panels which were past their best. This was driven to its storage in 2010 but towed back and installed in my garage pushed in with a fork lift...

    Speakers.

As the title. After spending a couple of weeks trucking around in the Teabag then spending a weekend in the 80 series I realised the shortcomings of the speakers in the 80 from the sound quality aspect. I'm sure this has been covered in the past but if anyone had any recommendations for...

    Ha

Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, 'Esther, I'd like to ride in that helicopter.' Back in the 90.

After giving the Collie a 3 month rest ( whilst using the 80 every day) I taxed it and will use it through the winter beside the VW and give the 80 a rest thus avoiding the exposure to salt. Obviously it started straight up and ran as normal straight to the fuel station where it relieved my...

Making progress with the 60 series.

Having sold the 60 ( for the second time) a couple of weeks ago and creating a space in my house garage I thought it was about time I put something else there to tinker with. About 10-11 years ago I bought a 61 auto from Wales with a years test. It was solidish and there were some minorish...

Possible 60's coming up for sale.

It has dawned on me that I'm never going to get done all the projects I intended to do, therefore in the near future I will be thinning my collection down starting with my 60's. I've had more than 30 60's over the years and enjoyed owning every one, I've had most variations from the X reg very...

    Electrical gremlins.

Just had one or two electrical gremlins on the 24V 80 auto I generally use, firstly the volt meter in the clocks would drop to half and the fuel gauge would go off the scale periodically and then 50 miles later would revert back to normal service. I knew the battery voltage was fine as I had a...
