80 series diesel click no start

Long time no see fellas. Poor Tonka has been mothballed while I've been recovering from chemo. Anyway, I've got the dreaded "click no start" Neither the starter relay, nor the change over relay are getting a signal so I'm looking in the direction of the changeover timer relay, anyone got the...

    80 series front diff WANTED

Hi all. 1994 MANUAL 4.2 TD Judging by the grumbling going on the front diff doesn't have long left, there was me thinking the CV's were going to go first:lol: Has anyone got a half decent front locking diff for a manual 4.2? Doesn't have to be perfect, doesn't have to be church mouse quiet...

    Electrical fault after welding

Yeah, yeah. I know. :icon-rolleyes::eusa-naughty: So long story short, i've currently got boost light, charging light, timing belt light, brake warning and a couple of other lights stuck on but the gauges are working fine. Any idea which widget I've blown? Surely I'm not alone....

    Avoid Llangollen 30/31 May 2015

Basically a big sponsored walk which will include one of the lanes and a big mountain bike weekend means avoid the place like the plague that weekend. In fact it's probably an idea to keep clear full stop for a while, it's a political bloody war zone around there right now.:shh: keep an eye...

Taller tyres for an 80 ?

Ok, sounds easy. Hmmmmm, it's not. I'd like some 35's, BUT apart from simex alike copies with fairly extreme tread there are no 10" or even 11" wide 35's The problem is I'm following discos and 90 ' through welsh ruts and stone and it's ripping the hell out of my sidewalls. I'm already 2"...

Darting / lurching to the left under braking

It's been doing this a while now, nothing too scary so I wasn't unduly worried. Driving along and hit the brakes it'll suddenly dart left, you wouldn't want to be unprepared for it...... Anyway, I know the pads are low and a year of laning without a proper wash / service i just sort of presumed...

    Diesel over fueling

Hi folks, sorry i've been a tad busy of late but i need to pick some brains. Typical 4.2 Diesel, bloody gutless below 1200rpm pull like a train at 2000rpm with 0.8bar boost but it then over fuels at 3000rpm to the extent it doesn't want to pull through to 4000rpm if it's pulling a load or in a...

    Center difflock light not working

Please forgive me if this has been done to death, but for the life of me i can't find it. :icon-redface: My center difflock is working, but the light isn't coming on. I was out the other day and it wouldn't come on (leaving me running the ABS gauntlet down a gravel sheep track) but then it...

Couple of my green lane trips

Nothing too exiting and certainly not extreme, but quite funny to watch 90's struggle in front of me while I walk up and over stuff in my "Lardbruiser" :icon-wink: Welsh lanes in the rain http://youtu.be/klklc3gTkm4 South Shropshire in the Sunshine http://youtu.be/TFY0sM6D3h8

    Rear recovery point ideas

Someone thoughtfully fitted this aftermarket ground anchor sometime in the dim and distant and i'm getting tired of dragging it around... Yes the bottom holes have been cut out, no i don't know why :eusa-hand: I'd like to keep a bolt on / off tow bar facility of some sort but apart from that...

    Cheap ebay snorkel warning

Don't start thinking I'm a rivet counter or brand name victim, I'm not. If it works it gets the job. However, there are currently some cheap snorkles on eBay, cheaper than I could make a stainless one for so I took a chance. The plastic doesn't seem bad, tough but not brittle. The moulding...

    80 Discreet front winch mount

Probably done to death but each is a little different i suppose..... First, the basic mount. Formed from cut and welded 5mm steel picking up on the existing 6 chassis nuts. Usually i use 6mm but i didn't have any, besides which this is a leisure vehicle. If i was intending to pull every weekend...

Adrian Flux warning (0/10 customer service)

First i'm not one to rant, it does no-one any good but i very nearly blew a friggin gasket with this useless bunch............. When I say i'll never use Adrian Flux again i damn well mean it, god help anyone who needs to claim. First balls up; say they didn't receive my no claims and then...

Guess what, snow and no Low range.....

Hi Folks, sorry I've not been around in a while, setting up a new business. But can someone help me with this please ? Select Low range, 5 seconds later engine cuts out dead. Restart engine Drive in Low and as soon as RPM rises to maybe 2000 it cuts out DEAD. Something seems to be electrically...

    Wanted: 80 series towing suspension

I think my back-end is a bit saggy  I'm getting a lot of bottoming with heavy towing, which is going to be a real problem soon. Has anyone got anyhting a bit more heavy duty they've taken off for some reason ? Don't mind STD, +30% or lifted WHY

    Fuel filler pipe leaking ?

This is just sodding typical......... I hate rust, so i spent a while looking for a truck that wasn't rusty. Anything else i can put up with ;) So today's aim of the day was; Investigate fuel leak when filling up. Remove child size centre silencer (the one that hangs below the chassis rails...

ORM's Fuel consumption / mod thread

I don't know if anyone else will find this interesting or not really, but maybe it'll be fun to keep track of it..... I quite often have to do a run from Shropshire to central London empty with one adult passenger and I quite often have to tow 3.5 tons with two adult passengers plus two kids. So...

Car transporter trailer. Flat bed tilt type

The charity status trust I'm helping is looking for a car transporter trailer. It really needs to be the flat bed type but it really comes down to whether I can adapt it to take two trains side by side. Ideally needs to be 6' 6" WIDE and LONG as possible. Oh and needs to have its serial...

    Hello from the Welsh border

Hi folks. I'm Gareth from a sleepy little market town called Oswestry in Shropshire. (Really, it's not as bad as "The Advertizer" would have you believe, GHB is really cheap for example.....) I pilot a 94 80 series with 130,000 on the clock and I'm leaving the BEB's well alone. Kidding, I've got...
