Don’t have an onboard voltmeter but used a digital across the batt terminals. Mind you it was raining, I’d just finished the installation and was in a hurry to clear up and get dry so will check it more carefully in the morning.

New alternator arrived today, fitted (eventually) and all is back to normal. I had charged the batts whilst they were disconnected and they look ok. Started first touch and now charging at about 14.1v. Well done Mike of Robson & Francis in London for sourcing the new one and shipping it so quickly.

A lot better than my 6 years that’s for sure!

Here’s the offending article. What a b of a job getting it out. Your recommended Mike has sourced a new one (not a great deal dearer than a refurb of this one) so hope to be mobile again in a few days. Many thanks all for your help and suggestions.

Yep, charged both batts separately 12.62 and 12.86 v Connected both and it starts, but no output from alternator - 11.9 v at batts at fast idle So, alternator it is I guess. Can just about see it but how the hell do you get to it?

Yes, so I guess worst case is new alternator and batteries - could be worse as all are original and it’s now 112k

And now I come to think of it, the wipers have been rather lazy recently, which would also indicate a voltage drop.

Yes, also thought I’d try starting it with just one connected. And if it’s a no go then charge the other and try that one.

Hi. Clive, yes my local garage is good and run by a mate of mine so will get down there in the morning. Meanwhile I tried to start just now (been switched off for about 45min) and it turned over very lazily but didn’t start. I’ve now disconnected both batts and got one on charge. Will see what...

Anyone had this problem? Getting flashed at night by other drivers. I noticed that both dipped beams were bouncing up and down - very noticeable when parked nose-on to a wall. They were both bouncing up and down in unison so not the motors. Shortly after that I started getting an AFS error...

Well, got the Geolandars, and they've done well on Tarmac - Gloucestershire and back from Skye - so it remains to be seen what they are like elsewhere. Not the most aggressive tread for an AT tyre, but more important that they perform on the black stuff. I'll post some pics when I get time.

Anyone had experience of these on LC 150? (or anywhere else for that matter...) I need 265/60 R18 110H - got to replace present ones soon, and heading south in a week or two so looking at 'mytyres' fitting service somewhere gloucestershire (Cheltenham / Stroud-ish) - unless I can find them...
