Front Leaf Spring With Fitting Kit Pair (6 Leaf) for TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 4.0L Turbo Diesel - 5 door - 10/1985 to 1/1990 - [Leaving Land Cruiser Club]
Anyone bought these?
Early on this year, i retrofitted a full a/c system from a 1991 import HDJ80 to a UK spec 1994 HDJ80. I found the whole wiring loom complete, and the retrofit wasnt particularly hard to do, as i had the dash out anyway to replace a leaking heater core.
Unfortunately, i pulled the system from a...
Was in Kyrgyzstan in September, driving a 98 Patrol. I noticed the dips were upgraded, and actually almost as bright as the mains. What upgrades are people running on their 80s here?
Master cylinder went in my new 80, replaced it with a second hand one out of my parts truck.
Cannot get a genuine new part after a lot of searching. I can get a rebuild kit from Toyota, but I'd prefer a whole new part.
Anybody know is there cross over compatibility on these (I can't find...
Hi, when I converted my HDJ81 from 24 volt to 12 volt starting last spring I just stuck in a battery I had to hand because the two existing starter batteries were a bit tired (and I got to fit one of them into a car!)
What cca, brand etc of battery are others running in their 12volt starter...
I may have hit my spare wheel carrier on my HDJ81 a bit of a belt with a cattle trailer :oops::angry-screaming:
Basically, I bent the frame of it and created a crack in the part it latches too that fits on the lower tail gate. The crack has now extended almost the whole way across the...
I'm in the process of debating whether to upgrade to the later type brakes or not. Personally I don't find the stock brakes on a 1991 that bad (at least I didn't until I spent about 5000km getting a rubbish set of aftermarket pads bedded in)
I do want to replace my rubber brake hoses though...
This is for real, but you won't believe it.
My other half (Irish) is starting a job in England in a couple of weeks (years contract in NHS), to do this, despite never having been in the UK in her life, she had to complete a police check (Disclosure and Barring Service) for a UK criminal record...
So a little bit of background first, I live in the back end of nowhere in Ireland. I farm (cattle and horses) and have a business related to that.
I have a LC80 (obviously from all my other posts:icon-eek:), I also have other cars and buy the odd w123 merc here and there. This is what has...
Was thinking of getting a 10 tonne or there abouts press.
Not a thing I know an awful lot about, I've used them a few times, but thats about it.
Any recommendations on a good brand, what I should expect to pay etc?
Its not going to get a huge amount of use, but like all these things, its not...
Hi all,
(1)How big spacers on an ARB bumper are needed (thickness) for a Goodwinch 9.5 to allow for the casing not to be touching the bumper. I'm guessing about an inch thick, but thats by eye, on my own holding it!
(2) How do I go about rotating the end with the freespool lever so its not...
Over the last 2000 miles my 1991 manual has developed a rattle which gets a bit worse when its warm.
ONLY makes noise when the clutch pedal as released, when the pedal is pushed in (disengaged) the noise disappears entirely.
Its got quite loud lately, and today I decided to investigate. The...
Bit of a long shot this, but has anyone any magic tricks for getting these 2 bolts off beyond the usual penetrating oil/breaker bar/ heat/ smaller socket/impact etc tricks??
Also, if I end up having to drill them, how long are they? And what thread are they because then I'll have to replace...
Just like the title says, looking through the EPC data for the different variations of 80 series TD there seem to be differing part numbers for the diesel injector pump.
Now I know there will be differences between 12v and 24v, and manual and auto due to fittings. But what other differences are...
Said I would post this on here because it may get someone out of a spot someday, particularly with an auto.
Imagine the scenario, your 24volt started LC has 2 flat batteries and you have (as is usually the case) only ONE set jump leads and ONE other 12v vehicle as in some kindly passerby's car...
If there is an earlier and later type manual gearbox, is there then a later and earlier type clutch plate etc?
The EPC seems to show that there is. (Some part number differences)
However aftermarket clutch kits such as the one on Milner and also on ebay seem to show only one kit from...
What oil do people recommend for manual transmissions?
I'm finding it very hard to find what is actually recommended in the FSM, and especially without EP additives (which are meant to be bad for yellow metals):angry-screaming::angry-screaming::angry-screaming:
I'm in the process of getting the bearings, seals etc together to do a front axle rebuild, both cause I want to an because I get the feeling the previous owner didn't overdo the maintenance.
There is a fair bit of bearing play so I'm going to replace all when I am in there.
However the CVs...
Was looking at the rear wheel carrier on my '91 HDJ81 today (yes it was a slow day:sleeping-sleep:) and I got to wondering just how sturdy it is, the anchor points on the swivel sides seem solid, but I'm not that convinced by the latching mechanism.
Am I just worrying over nothing, or Is it a...
The rad in my truck looks about as old as it is, given that its a 1991 it probably time to replace it.
Now don't get me wrong, its not in that bad a state, the fins are still ok and there isn't a leak but given that this is to be an overland travelling vehicle I'll be places where its warm so I...
So I contacted David Bowyer about buying one of the TDS Goldfish 9.5C winches.
HE offered me a good deal on the winch when I mentioned the forum:icon-biggrin:
But the sipping for the winch to Northern Ireland (ie still in the UK with a BT postcode) is £110 :crazy::crazy:. I thought that...

Was looking at this, anybody got one or know anything about them, there is also a cheaper commercial one but no decent picture of it!
Site is in French only as far as I can work out so you (may) have to use google translate unless you have some 'francophone' skills......:happy-bouncyred...
So I was planning to upgrade to 16 inch wheels on my '91 HDJ81.
Any idea where I would get a set of steel wheels from? Google has not been overly helpful and I don't want to buy Chinese sh1te that needs about a kilo of lead to balance!:puke-front:
I was having a little poke about under my new 80 today as I had noticed an occasional 'tink' or 'clink' noise when changing gear/getting on the throttle at times.
Rear prop shaft was nice and tight, u/j's all seemed nice and tight and greased, no vertical or lateral play in driveshaft. Can...
My new to me LC, 1991 Jap import with lockers in manual.
After driving over 600km in it already, couldn't really find much wrong with it to be honest.
Needs new shocks and springs, because its sagging a little at the rear and they look their age!
Needs a set of ACL BEB's which Karl is working...
So I spent yesterday evening and a portion of today travelling from near to Brighton to Holyhead in a HDJ81 manual I bought.
It was my first trip to England since the 90's excluding a couple of stags that were fly in/fly out and can't really remember anything jobs:wtf:
I did notice a few...
Thought a thread on funny car buying adventures might amuse, we've all had them to some extent... even if they mightn't have been that funny at the start!
So here is number one,
Few years ago went to look at a 2001 Passat TDI with a friend, looked clean, reasonable money but not alarm bells...
Does this look familiar to anyone???:wtf:
Price seems to have doubled.....

Just came up on the bay, hate when 'dealers' blank out the reg plate, always makes me smell a dodge!

So I was looking at a nice 80 series, 1996manual. Seemed nice and clean, couldn't find any major problems, diff locks worked, drove fine, only thing not working was the aircon clutch, but I would say that was just low pressure so not too worried. My only concern was the oil...
What are the major differences, I follow that a GS is a more basic entry model, but what differences are there between a GX and a VX? Not having any luck with search because VX and GX are too short!!
