Thanks guys for all the advice, at the garage, they check all of the bits (rack, joints). Ruled out the bits like the PS fluid and the rack. But found a caliper that was sticking siezing on the steering wheel shaft. Chaps took it off checked and cleaned and regeased it all and put it back...

Checked the fluid, this morning and looks full. I booked it in with the garage just incase its something else. Still drives fine and no issuses elsewhere apart from the steerring wheel needing a extra amount of work.

thanks guys, I got a feeling it might be the joints since the garage guy mentioned it will need doing soon, I will check the power steering fluid in the morning.

Right guys, Apologies for the delay, but the seal has been done and new Hyp 90 has been added. Driven around a couple of 100 miles since and all is well. Is there anyway to check the grease in the prop, they said they did it, but how do you check?

Cheers Rob, I found a local garage which will do it on the ramp as I dont have the tools for the job. I have bought the seal, nut and the 2L Titan Gear Hyp 90 (GL5 80W-90) as discussed. Hope to have it in this Friday. Will update asap.

cheers guys, what I am going to do is ring rough trax up to price up the job for me and keep it in one place. By the time simon comes back to me I will order another set for the next service next year. I will see how the rough set does. I will also order the diffs, auto and coolant from them...

Cheers mate, I will add that on my list as the kit was belt and pulley only and the VD was not included but it does get mentioned on a change with the water pump.

Will be trying my best to stick to original parts, but if there is a saving for good recommended parts, I would just use them instead. ECP is doing 30% off at the moment, was thinking to get the MANN filters (fuel, oil, cabin) off them. The fluids I am going to be a little more careful with as...

This as far as I got (ECP or Roughtrax) Engine oil - Toyota original or other? Triple QX semi 5w30 from ECP???? diff oils - what grade for front and back - RoughT or other Air filter - Mann filter from ECP Fuel filter - Mann filter from ECP Coolant - original long life from RoughT or other...

Few people I know mentioned Mann filters as does my garage. ECP do triple qx 5w30 oil, wondered if that's any good? I am filling in the blanks above, ideally if I can get everything in one or two place I will just go for that. Don't want parcels coming all week!

Cheers Bob So it looks like my search is being narrowed down after all, Its a late 2001-02+ or model 51 plate+ to be on the safe side (D4D) and GX and if a VX comes along thats a bonus! But is 150K classed as average for, lets say 51-52 plate or should it be around the 130-140K?

I think the one I am/will be looking at is the FX mentioned above. Hopefully once thats been checked with the family, I will know if leathers and extras are a must. Had cloth in all my cars (all japanese) since 2000, never had a problem with it. But, its the extras that the family is going mad...
