I know there where a couple of post regarding compressors but in short.

Witch one is the best?

My vote goes to the Viair but the Tmax gets good reviews too.

They can be found on the bay if you in no rush. I picked mine up for £100 new.

It does depend on what you want to do with it and how often you are going to use it as well as how patient you are to wait for tyres to blow up.

I have only ever bought and used one type but I'm very happy with it having used it now for two years without problem, it will pump up four tyres from 18 to 48PSI (stuck LR) without complaint at 40c ambient.

I'm very pleased with my T-Max Adveturer :D Especially know I have sorted out a new hose & tyre inflator

My m8 used it the other day to blow up his sprinter tyre from 50 to 70psi  He said that it surprised him how quick it did it :D He has a Vivair 440 :p

Hi, I have just got the high output ARB one for a friend, from Devon 4x4. Its a portable version, special order, but comes with its own solid box and airline. It has its own tank so is good to blow out radiators, etc.
Good piece of kit, but higher price.

Which is exactly the same spec word for word as the paddock one, which reinforces the theory that they are all made in the same factory and sold under various names

Not sure if you can say "Which one is best"? All opinions here.....

I just got a T-Max and so far very happy with it. Inflates the tyres in very good time. Is there better? Maybe. For £70 this one looks good, does what it needs to (and quickly) and I would probably use it once a month so, if it lasts 5 years, it was a good purchase.

The Ausies seem to rate it so can't be that bad.

£70...

edit:

If I must pick fault (and I am being picky here) I could do with a different valve connector would be nice. A bit fiddly.

So having used this now in anger to re-inflate my slow puncture most mornings, the TMax is good. inflates it far quicker than the normal garage pumps. Very happy with it.

Hey guys! I know this is a long shot since this is a 10 years old thread but!

I see sae70 using a tire inflator with gauge in the TMAX compressor.

I recently bought this compressor and wanting to do this mod too.
I read in the manual that This unit is designed to supply continues flow of air. Never dead end the hose or use accessory that stop the free flow of air. Damage to the unit can occur.

Can I use a inflator like the photo or it will cause damage?

That looks like it has a clamp for the valve but then a trigger for air flow. In other words a dead stop. I wouldn't use it. You need an 'open chuck' type inflator.

So this which was posted in a previous post is not correct? right?

I should not use something similar.

My problem is that I have to turn the compressor on and off in order to check the pressure. That means I have to move all thee time, since the gauge is not on the compressor.

Viair are very good. If you do not want to turn compressor off or move, you could disconnect hose and use a standalone pressure gauge to check pressures.

How often will you be deflating and re-inflating your tires?

Below are a list of viair options of portable and on board air.
