Body stripped. That’s me with the body shop specialist, Saeed, what a talent guy.

Work carried out diffs and breaks. After completing the restoration, I had the entire parts wrapped in plastic before they were again fitted to the Chassis.

Chassis was completely stripped and after a rigorous clean and improvements, the whole frame was Epoxy coated and then spray painted with a high quality paint.

nice work , funny how a lot of the parts are very similar to a landrover or at lease similar engineering .

Sorry been busy at work for the last few weeks but the BJ40 project hasn't stopped :). Made some mega changes and decided to change the engine. Yes, it was a huge decision and i consulted many people all around the globe for their views and suggestions. Finally i decided to go for the B series (same as stock) but factory fitted Turbo charger. I purchased a 1988, 13BT with very low miles on the block. Despite my requests to the mechanic not to strip the engine, he did it anyway.
The engine was stripped to check the condition of the crank, pistons, turbo charger and the diesel pump. The pistons were in great shape and so was the crank. The pump and the turbo mechanism were also in top condition.
Will post a few images to show the current progress.

Just got some engine casings back after a good thorough clean.

Is it much of a job to fit a turbo to the B engine
My apologies in advance if I get this wrong. I had a B engine which was in great condition but since I wanted turbo installing i was advised the B block isn’t strong enough to take the conversion. It can be done and is being done but I did not wish to take any chances. Having spent upwards of 15k just on the restoration I decided to go for an improved and more powerful engine the 13BT.

‘After a good thorough clean’ and polish to within an inch of their lives! Very nice indeed! You’ll have your work cut out keeping them looking like that Shafiq.
Thanks. Hopefully it won’t get to that as I intend to use the vehicle only on the odd occasion. I know it will be chore keeping the block looking clean.

Excellent project. I used to have an 84 BJ42. But unlike yours mine was very rusty and spent a lot of time at the beach. Sadly I cooked the motor and sold the whole thing for parts. Wasn’t much left in the end. It took me all over Western Australia, it was a great car.
