Hello all, I have recently bought a 1999 J90FE 2.7L petrol 4 Cylinder with 150,000km and although it is in good condition, I am struggling to solve the poor performance. I am pretty sure the issue is the carburetor as is almost stalls at low revs, especially when cold. It does not backfire and there is no oil in the coolant so I have discounted a blown head gasket. Does anyone have a suggestion and could they recommend where to but a replacement carburetor?

This engine does not have a Carb. It does have a idle air control valve which can cause those symptoms? Is the check engine light on?

Hi Beau,

Thank you for the reply. The engine definitely has a carb and I just replaced the Chinese copy with an original Toyota one and the engine is running better, but not as it should. There is also more carbon than there should be on the valves. There are no warning lights on.
