80 and 105 series steering box cross shaft.

Have done a search of the forum it appears that the 105 series cross shaft is larger and stronger than the 80. So my question is does anyone have a part number for the 105 shaft as the parts manuals I have looked at say they are the same part. In light of this should I presume that in fact the 80 shaft has been upgraded to the 105 and now this is the only one available. Any help muchly appreciated.

It is but it still doesn’t answer the question as to why they have the same part number apart from that this is the only one available now.

Sorted it now, it's the 2005 onwards that has the bigger cross shaft. @chapel gate i can't seem to pm you for a price could you pm me please.
