As I posted recently I now have another 80, bit of a different model spec than I've had before but this one came up and I liked it. On the surface it looked great, and it is, I just have a long list of things to do to it as it seems to have gone through many various uses. Lost count of the wiring mods inside the dash including a digital tacho etc, but all stripped now and brought up to date with DAB etc. The import rear fog light and front spots have long since rotted away internally.

Its recently had new suspension so not keen for lifting just yet, as concentrating on base lining all those small repairs and servicing everything to within an inch of its life, I need a reliable nice daily driver at the moment.

Well that was a busy weekend.
Full service including axles.
Remove phone kits and digital tacho and update dash wiring.
Fit new DAB stereo with hands free phone function.
Fit new cubby in dash to conceal openings.
Fit new light bar and remove non working cheap spot lights.
Fit additional 12v points, will hard wire later.
Clean up earth points.
Replace rear non working fog light with LED unit. Great little LED unit, also have the reversing type as need better light for my parking space.
Fit roof bars.
Tidy up gear stick.
Remove complicated towing stabiliser bracket as don't need it.

Just getting started really :sunglasses:

Nice. I look forward to watching this develop. 24v auto the one to have IMO

It looks so much better already Paul. Looking forward to further progress

Well, parts turning up every hour at the moment as went a little crazy online.
I have been after a decent phone mount for ages as not keen on Halfords specials with a suction cup so found this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/X-Grip-Mo...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Thought it was worth a punt due to the price and very surprised as its great, even built in USB and power lead. Modified it for car use by ditching the U bolts and fixed it directly. Complete rip off of a RAM Mount Design but it works.

Next was the windscreen wiper mechanism, it was so bad it was jamming up and wearing away the panel which lifted it away from the screen! My old 24v 80 had the same problem, but the one I had in OZ didn't. I guess I didn't need the wipers as much out there :sunglasses:
This is how bad it was, so fitted a new mechanism from Milners.

Whoa slow down, you're making the rest of us look bad :) I havent got through that list and ive had mine 3 years now !
Great loooking cruiser by the way :) look forward to seeing it progress (if there's anything left to do of course)

Sad reading this thread now. To realise that Paul went from fit active and apparently healthy to gone in just 10 weeks is sobering to say the least.

That's life I suppose…

Shows that it's ended with reserve not met. I was going to forward to a friend of mine in case.

It shows it was taken off " no longer available" ie sold out of auction.

I bet a few of us were watching that. It really f**ks me off when you are watching an item waiting to bid and its taken off when someone circumnavigates the system. One of the purveyor's of spare parts for Toyota models dear to our hearts is especially partial for doing this when there are around 20 bids on an item of interest.
Its one reason I never put a vehicle on an auction site any more, people expect you to break a contract.

Yes, that particular individual did cross my mind for having bought this but I thought it would be a very cold hearted person who would sell their late husband's pride and joy to a breakers, so I dismissed that one. I can only hope it's gone to a member and hence another good home rather than to the vulture's nest.

I fell foul of this didn't i , one owner for a decade or more and very low mileage it was the sellers pride and joy and so he wanted it to go to a good home - and he believed that's where he was sending it :violin:

looks like your barking up the wrong tree on this one there must be another heart less bastard out there.
