In my New 2021 Land Cruiser GXR V8 (odometer: 1000 km), the compressor turns on & off every 21 seconds, the outside temperature is 38C / 100F, the air blown from the A/C is cold, I took the car to the agency and they checked the system and it shows no error, they replaced the refrigerant with a new one, but that did not solve the problem, now they will try to replace the sensor, they say there are two sensors one inside the cabin and one under the hood, the will try replacing one and if that doesn't work they will replace the other. has anyone encountered a similar problem?

Sounds like possibly moisture in the system freezing at the expansion valve or another reason for a partial blockage. Other reasons could be internal fan not running or blocked condenser but those would be obvious. Best thing is to get a proper AC engineer to put gauges on it and read the pressures. Then check each sensor to find out which if any is cycling the compressor. Depending on results, he might put it on vacuum over night to boil off any water in there then charge with the correct weight of refrigerant.

It sounds very much like they don’t really know how to fault find it but are applying the scattergun approach with the sensors.

Thank you StarCruiser, but what do you mean by "put it on vacuum overnight"? as explained above, they did replace the old refrigerant, it took them about 1.5 hours to do that.

Most main dealers have a machine they hook up and then walk away and it sucks the old gas out , captures it then refills with correct amount of new gas .
Sounds like your agency is one of these.... the apprentice can operate the machine ;-)
Star Cruiser was referring to a specialist who understands how the system works and the physics involved... this is the kind of guy you need ....unfortunately the main dealer won't want to pay for his services and are hoping Toyota pick up the cost of the parts they are throwing at the vehicle....

it's clear now, thanks a lot Grimbo.

I noticed tonight that the problem despairs when the A/C fan speed is on 4 or higher if the fan speed below 4 the A/C compressor turns on & off every 17 - 21 seconds. Is that an indication of a faulty evaporator sensor? How many sensors inside the car?.
