A Series 80 build that's "bigger on the inside"

Thanks.

BTW, my first "off road" picture. Technically, I was off road by about a foot.

I don't like the sound of folks tampering with the "goods" on shipment.

Did anyone have any legitimate reasons for opening the hood and messing with the fuel cap?

I have had some intermittent problems with my fuel cap though, it tightens on a ratchet, so there's no way to over-tighten it. But on occasions, it's a tough cookie to undo. It only takes a moment with some slim-line pipe grips I have, but I can't see any reason for it jamming like it has done now and again.

Anyway, it doesn't happen often but it could be a clue to yours getting broken, if the "tamperer" used excessive force trying to open it.

Good luck with the move and settling in Drew.

I think I've found the culprit as far as the hamfist shippers breaking the cap. Seems my charcoal canister is either plugged or the check valves are stuck. As a result, my gas cap is a bear to get off, I'm having hard starts and am noticing a lack of "umph" going up mountain trails.

The original part from Toyota is $295, so I have ordered a GM part # VC120 canister, which is slightly larger, does not use the bottom hose but otherwise is alleged to do the job without ill effect or throwing a code. I picked up this gem of money saving advice here:

Here are some snaps from my daily commute. The downside of living here for some is the extremely rural nature of the terrain. Which to me is an upside.

Interesting link 120 I might need to replace mine as I do get a suction sound.

I need to do some more digging as well; I always wondered why there was a suction build up that releases when you open the filler cap, and it does seem to be getting worse...

Looks great country there; I'd prefer that view to a city.... the city I live in at least has such poor street lights you can still see the stars at night...

I just received a new filler cap in the mail. I expect the canister should be here by the end of the week.

Each day I look at an old-fashioned map to see what new trails I can take to and/or from work.
