just wondering why the abs switches off if i select low box

i know it should switch off according to the manual, just wondering why?

cheers

Because abs releases the brake momentarily to prevent wheels locking under emergency braking , on a loose surface this would make your brakes almost worthless i reckon .

I think it's to do with the default behaviour of the centre diff locking when low box is engaged. If both wheels on an axle are locked together then the brakes on each wheel cannot work truly independently as is required for ABS operation.

i was wrong,i was on a muddy track coming home today
selecting low-box engages the centre DL but didn't cancell the abs
it cancells only when you engage the rear DL as well

when coming down steep slippy unknown tracks, i'm still not sure if i'd prefer abs or not
we're having a bit of rain at the mo',i'll try it and see tomorrow on a track i know

must admit i like the extra feel and power you get without abs

i always disable the abs on enduro bikes, pulling the fuse normally
'cause you need to slide either end to help steer and position the bike

driving a 4x4 i'm still working out the best way to do things
i'd like to have the choice to disable the abs on the 120 in low box

Going into low on my lc5 does not disable anything. But CDL will disble vsc and the auto height adjust/compensation.

Edit: going low does not enable CDL. Must push the button to get that.
