I like to say I'm too old (76) to have Early Alzheimers so it must be the real thing! Something to which to look forward.
I lied earlier when I said there was no history on this 2006 LC. Carfax had pretty much the complete service history from the unit's sale in July 2005 with five miles on the odo. I'd forgotten until spousal unit (Judi) reminded me. The majority of entries were oil/filter changes done at the dealer (McMinnville (OR) Toyota/Volkswagen). It says on a summary page, no structural damage, airbag deployment or odo rollback until Aug. 2016 when "damage to left front" reported.
When we bought the vehicle in Feb. 2019, the CD/DVD changer did not work and the battery would not hold a charge. We took it to a local independent mechanic who traced the problem to battery drain due to the changer and disconnected it. No electrical problems since.
In addition to the Carfax report, there are three pages from McMinnville Toyota service archive:
June 18, 2018, 167783 miles: c/s check engine light on, check engine light flashing VSC and TRAC Off light on. Can feel engine is running roung (sic; think s/he meant rough) at check in. Please check and advise. Installed spark plug insert, replaced spark plugs, water pump, timing belt, head assembly and coil.
July 23, 2018 167783 miles: 1) complete used suv/trk detail, 2) diag for radio issue, checked for draw, replaced radio and working good at this time 3) checked battery and found battery failed load test, replaced under 2 year 100% warranty.
August 3, 2018, 167784 miles: customer states the check engine light is on. Diagnose and advise on repairs. B1S1 a/f sensor bad due to head gasket leak into exhaust. Replaced sensor and all working good at this time.
John again: obviously we did not do due diligence prior to purchase or at minimum did not pay attention to what are now obvious red flags. Bad John, bad!
