So following Jon's lead I decided to install a T'Eyes CC3 android10 10.2" head unit in the 100. What a palaver. It's still not quite right, but we're ironing out the niggles.

Original 2005 dash - dated and no map updates available since 2014. Side vents removed, bit sticky at the bottom so need to be really gentle...

Wiring harness as supplied is way too confusing so I taped it up for clarity:

Who knew that behind the radio / touch screen and climate control unit there was such a big space, filled with loads of wires....

But after some fiddling I now have it installed and working.... thanks Jon for the support lol

Because its Android it runs Google maps natively for navigation. It also has 3 x USB slots and a sim card slot, so connectivity is a breeze. I've added DAB+ radio via one of the USBs and will now add a USB TPMS system so I can keep an eye on wheels...

The climate control didn't work initially due to user error - I'd not connected up one of the leads. The OEM radio is mostly redundant now which is a bit of a pity but Spotify and Bluetooth audio makes up for that.

The backlighting on the 3 buttons below the radio no longer works and if I lock the car with the fob the alarm kicks off, and as I've put in proper Hella hooters it's ultra loud so a bit of investigation needed there.

Reverse camera has to be replaced. I've pulled the wiring harness for that, just got to install the camera now where the OEM one goes.

Generally very happy, and at well under £500 not too bad.

Think I will get a car sparky for my conversion as when you got five thumbs on each hand not much goes right Orr wait till the pub spring meeting and see if Starcruiser turns up now that sounds like a proper plan

OMG Gary, that looks amazing and is exactly the reason I joined this group, so thanks for the post - but I now know I will not be touching mine after seeing what is behind there.

Funnily enough it’s not that bad once you get your head around the wiring.

A year on, some thoughts.

1. Being android-based it’s fairly extendable via Bluetooth or USB connection, so I’ve added a usb DAB Radio which is ok, plus I’ll be adding tyre pressure monitors. Strangely the Victron Bluetooth monitor doesn’t work, so some digging needed there.
2. Find a safe place to mount the antennas in the open, Google Maps running natively has been a bit sketchy in the Highlands
3. Android Auto is brilliant and wireless
4. Call quality and capability is good, better than original
5. Apps like Spotify and Audible install natively so music / books on long slogs are perfect.
6. If travelling in Europe, don’t get a Smarty SIM, I lost all data access when getting off the ferry in Santander. There are apparently ways to fix that, none of which worked for me. Gone back to GiffGaff and we shall see how that turns out…
7. And you lose tape deck and CD shuttle, no big deal. Steering wheel controls all work, as does the original radio power and volume knob, strangely.
8. HVAC controls are a bit fiddly but you get used to them - 3 menus to work through to change fan speed or temperature. The OEM buttons for heated mirror and rear demister still work as designed.

I’ve since replaced the front door speakers with plug n play Focals and the sound quality is much better too. Still to do rears and complete sound insulation, but that’s another project :)

The alarm and illumination issues reported in my first post were both user error and easily resolved. Same with AC, and fiddling with that has led to months of replacing AC components that were screwed, from compressor through to hoses at the back where someone had messed up. The Rear AC works as designed too, so happy doggos in there now.

Hmm can’t seem to find that level of detail, I ordered mine using their defaults. Maybe engage with them directly to check compatibility?
