I was talking to a boat owner on Loch Lomond a few years ago and he was saying owners were replacing inboard petrol engines in there boats with Diesel engines from some models of Volvo’s which gave them reliability and the benefit of cheap red diesel and more power in some cases. I’m not that clued up on boats but I’ve heard the name Volvo Penta mentioned among boat owners. I guess these are marinised versions of vehicle engines similar to the a Toyota/Yanmar setup?

In a pleasure boats you still use red but you pay the same tax as white, you can only use tax free red for heating the boat. This changed in 2008 I seem to remember we had a boat at the time
