The word hero is often now over used in the media..... in this case it has never been more apt....
Captain Tom had a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous and infectious sense of humour....
Stand easy Sir Tom ....your job here is done RIP warrior .

Hero is not a word to apply to footballers or celebrities, and other no marks, it is to all the men and women of Toms ilk.

Let's just hope that his family are allowed their own space. He was our inspiration, but he was their Gramps. Frankly I'd give the bloke a state funeral, but it's not our call. He'd probably just rather have been laid under an apple tree in his garden. With all the covid nonsense of course, any funeral is going to have to be a somewhat muted event in any case. Bless him, he was a stalwart.
