Does any one know how interchangable the ecu is? I have a 2001 gxv auto. Got a mate with on 02 GXL auto. Is it possible to swap the ecu's for fault finding or not? Or does the ecu pn have to be an exact match?

I guess you need to check the codes on the ecu's and match them.. if I recall the ecu covers many different specs on the truck.

100s have different components running through the ecu.. best to check that way but you're close on the years of manufacture. Hope the info helps..

your problem will be the immobiliser thats built into the ecu. its coded with your ignition key.
you live in the best country to get it deleted though..

Yes indeed same era as the d4d hilux and the ecu has the immo built in.... tamper proof! I'd call it bloody knightmare! lol

Immobiliser is not built into the ECU - it’s a separate module. ECUs and immobilisers are not paired - they’re universal between similar models so yes you can swap ECUs around as much as you want so long as they’re for similar year models. Auto ECUs even run manuals just fine
