Hi All,
Last time I posted the issue I was having with the electrics and the lights on my dash whilst the engine was running, in fact I have used it as my temporary avatar. It was a broken B+ lead on my alternator the terminal lug was fractured and the Screw post was so rusty thus creating a high resistance. It eventually broke off. Whatever happened to simple fixes ? I thought it was a 15 minute job to remove and replace the alternator,
until I had a look underneath the vehicle , Ah ha , the engine is built around the alternator , I could see no easy way of removing it . As YouTube is my friend, I found a clip on how to remove one from the American equivalent the GX470, I was truly shocked at the time it would take including the removal of other ancillary items. I have now enlisted the services of a local mechanic managed to Break off the B post terminal whilst trying to undo the nut and is going to charge me approx £500 to replace the darn thing..is this cheap ???
