for the welders

Thanks.
This IS a part which is very easy to be too careless about.

Welding Galvanised steel also can give off some nasty substances, I knwe about the phosgene one & cleaning chemicals its the ultraviolet light that sets the reaction off not the heat per se.

Welding lots of galv is not a good idea without knowing what you are doing, but there is a common perception that one hit and you're a gonner. Complete nonsense. Phosgene however, is a different matter.

Sounds like this chap had a particularly severe reaction though.

I don't quite get this. So he very quickly researched and learned the possible cause of his "episode" and the dangerous effects of Phogene gas, yet despite exhibiting some of the symptoms, didn't bother to seek medical attention for 9 days and now has emphysema etc.

Bit of a buffoon if we are to believe his tale...

It struck me as odd too that in his first words he said, "Yep, I thought I was a goner" and yet didn't seek immediate medical attention, as you say Olazz, a bit of a buffoon to put it mildly.
