Yeah I dunno ... I'm in Bogota, Colombia. There are a couple of good shops here ... but most guys do back alley restorations like these. Nobody's in a hurry here, that Nissan Patrol hasn't moved in two years.
But seriously- why sand and paint every under surface no one's going to see anyway, and probly doesn't need anyway? It's beaucoup bucks, man. Me, I'm on a search and destroy for rust, shock towers/wheelwells ok but gunk comes in from those open joins between the fenders and rusts ftom the inside out. Easy-to find in all the usual places though, I've cut out and replaced four so far and I think that's it. Rest of the underside pretty clean. Redid the cabin floors in 16 guage steel but that was only $800 firewall to back bumper... probly do seals and bearings but no weeping from the swivel hubs so might no even need it there.
The toughest part is deciding what you want - bad ass machine or delicate lollipop. Can't have it all.
