I don't like those gate valves used on hot water pipes. They often leak so you can't completely turn off the pipe you are working on. Is it possible to use the stop cock with the T bar design ?

Replaced various stop cocks with 1/4 turn Pegler ball valves. Only been in a few years, but so far so good, quick to operate and easy to see if on or off.

Chromed or plain brass, you get what you pay for. Go for good quality (Peglers should be good) and they should last. There’s stainless versions if you really want.

Quality Full bore levers all the way if space permits, but not the screwfix/ wickes/ b&q etc specials, they’re the equivalent of some Milner’s parts!
