Yet another snag on my cruiser. Recently changed the timing belt, water pump, radiator, thermostat, bunch of coolant and heater hoses, switched to 10w-40 fully synth, switched to Toyota red from the sludge coolant that was in it and so on all at the same time as sorting out the power steering box rebuild, throughout this it did sit on stands for 5months due to being away with work. Thought the wagon would be cooking on gas afterwards with a new lease on life but I was wrong.
So the current issue, wagons a 1HDT auto for context, when I accelerate there is what feels like a 2-3second downshift in the gears when changing between gears. It’s hard to explain but it feels like it goes 1st into 2nd, instantly fires back down into first (revs shoot up) then back into 2nd before transitioning gears seamlessly. This happens every single time. I can’t think for the life of me what would have started this from the bits that I changed.
When changing the radiator the auto trans cooler is in the bottom, have I missed something here? Fluid levels still seem correct. I have got hold of a local transmission shop who chinned me off, likely when they read “1992 Land Cruiser”
Anyone have any experience with this…
