Glow plug light works as it should when it rains

Hi Guys

So I have this rather amusing problem. The 79 Cab Chassis Cruiser I have developed this problem where the glow plug globe on the instrument panel will not go out. I generally just count down to 5 when it is cold, and to 3 when it is hot and it starts and run just fine after that.

I had a bit of play, mostly thinking it was a ground issue and have hooked up a jumper cable to the various ground points under the kick panels on the driver and passenger side, as well as to various ground points in the engine bay. No success.

Anyway, so when it rained the other day it worked properly. It went out after about 3 seconds turning on the ignition and then stayed off after I started the engine. After driving for about 15 minutes it came back on again.

It seems to reliably work when it rains and not when it is dry.

Any ideas what to look at?

Cheers
