Ground Tents..........whats your advice..?

Hmm. the quechua from decathlon doesnt have a sewn in groundsheet, so gaps to let portuguese drafts in. Not good for me, being a bit delicate like.

use one of those nice huts they have on site

Thats what I keep coming back to -then no need to take any camping/sleeping/cooking kit at all, plus we have somewhere to sit in the eveningif its chilly.

But....thats about £300.

Better to put the money toward a decent tent I can use again.

Your tent is the quechua I was looking at, but it doesnt have a fitted groundsheet - thats one of my must haves as it keeps the draughts/creepy crawlies out.

James is then going in to the Khyam i used last year, its a cracking little tent, warm, comfy and snug, but I dont want to sleep on the floor again.

Am just going back through this topic to look at all the options again.

Pete

Edit. Have found what looks to be a good option at GoOutdoors:

A trip to taunton tomorrow then, check that the bed will fit in.

I had a couple of Khyam tents and they were both pretty good (although I'm now a canvas tent convert). The larger one was a Ridgi Dome similar to http://www.khyam.co.uk/info.asp?s=Ridgi-Dome . It took 5-15 minutes to put up depending on whether I packed it on top of or under the esky, and had plenty of room to stand and get out of the rain (it often served as a communal gathering on group trips). The sleeping compartment was completely closed to keep creepy crawleys out, but the main stand up bit doesn't have a fixed floor - there is a specific ground sheet available, but we just used a waterproof rug that we had.
