    1919 Alcock and Brown take off for the first non-stop transatlantic flight
    The British aviators began their journey in St. John's, Newfoundland and reached Galway in Ireland less than 16 hours later. One month earlier, Albert Cushing Read flew across the Atlantic, but his flight included a stop in the Azores Islands.

    The prominent produce company Turners and Growers announced that it would from now on export Chinese gooseberries as ‘kiwifruit’. Introduced to New Zealand in 1904.

    Back in the old country the Chinese are making our next generation of nuclear power stations, the power companies are Energie du France and the national grid is joint owned by the Qataris and the Chinese.
