LAND CRUISER 200 2008 4.7L V8 PETROL ELECTRIC PROBLEM

The truck presents a light that is check VSC systems, it does not present any failure when the light is on.



We connect the computer to see the diagnosis and it indicates problems with the crankshaft sensor, we check connectors, crankshaft sensor, computer and everything looks good. Once the light appears it is only removed by resetting it with the computer or removing a battery terminal, when this is done the truck rolls well and without the light on, when it passes through an irregular road the light comes on and when you put the computer to diagnose it indicates the same fault. After having done everything indicated we consider that what we should do is to make a check of the wiring to validate that it does not have any broken wire or with some kind of interference. I consult, someone has had this problem and could guide me to see if I'm going in the right direction.

I don't know about the 200 but older cruisers do some very strange things to the dash when tow or bulb sockets corrode , and given how easy it is to check them its worth a look before you delve deeper .

Shayne makes a good point here. Has this fault just appeared or has it appeared at the time of an addition, service, any work on the vehicle? Does if have a tow bar or anything additional that could affect the electronic systems. Also check system voltage and charge voltage. Check for corrosion in connectors associated with this sensor. Check grounding straps/cables to the engine. The next thing to do is check the sensor itself doesn’t have any cracks or contaminants around it. Remove it and inspect it. Finally try changing the sensor. These can go intermittent BUT usually result in an engine stop which you aren’t experiencing. At least changing it eliminates it.

Note, I don’t have this truck or engine but did have an intermittent crank position sensor on the Cursed Smart Car that caused the engine to die intermittently.
