On a recent visit to South Africa they are still building the 76 & 79 Landcruisers and there is a choice of engines including the V8. With fuel at under 80p a litre you can afford to run a V8 if you are reasonably well off. These are really rugged low maintenance vehicles and we saw many of them. All varieties of Toyotas seem to be the choice of the people. We had a Toyota Corolla rental for our stay there. Our friend works for Toyota in South Africa and is the regional workshop manager in Kwazulu Natal.
