So we spent last weekend laning on the Welsh border. I can't believe how many great, interesting, challenging and downright beautiful lanes there are in that area

Nice man! In the 6th pic when you look just above your drivers door right in the distance. Quite blurry on the horizon. I live there! Really nice to see! Send me a pm if you like to go further into Wales!

iwan, next month is Norfolk, but July will be southwest Wales. My mate who I go laning with always says that Wales is his second favourite place in the world (after Yorkshire naturally). That's high praise from a Yorkshireman!

P.s beautiful part of the world you live in

Nice to see! First pic looks a bit scratchy! :)

I'll be honest, we ended up backing off the first lane. Not because of scratchiness, but because the ruts got too deep and there were some pretty horrible side slopes. I hate side slopes at the best of times and my mate insists on driving a standard height Ranger... I've had to drag his car over deep ruts many times.

do you have a route you can share dave? the missus has convinced me to have a week in a log cabin in the area. theres only so much sitting in a hot tub drinking beer you can do..

How's this?
OS Explorer maps (1:25000) 201/217 and a bit of 241
Highly recommend that Red Lion in New Radnor if you want to stop over at the start. Crown Inn at Clunton had some basic food and is a good half-way point

What do you have planned for Norfolk? Could arrange a meet up

Not a part of the country I know very well, so I'm not sure what to expect. Based on a coast-to-coast route in Land Rover Owner International. I haven't finished planning yet, but it runs from near Happisburgh in the east , back to Heacham in the west. More than welcome (as long as you don't mind slightly chaotic route-finding...)! Sun 10th june - PM me in about a week and I'll let you know where we're meeting/staying. It doesn't look like there is anything too challenging, but there should be some nice views and pleasant sandy lanes

Not familiar with the happisburgh end but fairly local to heacham. Peddars way will take you all the way to thetford. Miles and miles of lanes there. Couple of decent Ford's at west acre. Will message you nearer the date.cheers

I'm planning a specific Thetford trip either later this year or early next. This one will be just a straight-line (-ish) across North Norfolk

Sorry if I am preaching to the converted here, but please - PLEASE observe the guidelines for greenlaning published by GLASS https://www.glass-uk.org/about/where-can-i-drive.html

Too many cowboys are giving us a bad reputation by driving in large groups or generally driving where they should not. Lets preserve the lanes and not give councils the excuse to ban us.

I don't live in the UK now, but still follow a lot of others who greenlane.

The Crown at Clunton is my local when I'm in the UK.... the old Landlord and Landlady did the catering at our wedding back in 2014.
